Pathogenesis of endocrine thyroid cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This review aims to discuss the different genetic alterations that may come about and thus give rise to thyroid cancer. The importance of understanding the pathogenesis of this disease is in the use of these genetic alterations as prognostic markers and ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Comparison of the degree of patient satisfaction between transoral thyroidectomy and open thyroidectomy: a survey-based study

open access: yesBMC Surgery
Background Recent advances in thyroid surgery techniques have increased the number of patients undergoing transoral thyroidectomy, and many patients are concerned about post-thyroidectomy cosmetic effects. This study aimed to compare patient satisfaction

Analyze and compare the predictors of ipsilateral central lymph node metastasis in papillary thyroid carcinoma with cT1a and cT1b stage

open access: yesAsian Journal of Surgery, 2021
Summary: Purpose: Central lymph node metastasis (CLNM) is common in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). The aim of this study was to compare the cT1a and cT1b stages of PTC and to analyze the predictive factors of ipsilateral central lymph node ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Tissue culture of human thyroid cancer

open access: yes, 1968
Human thyroid cancer cells in the pleural effusion were serially cultivated in vitro. Three kinds of cell lines were established from the same primary culture and were designated as PS, TS and TR lines, respectively.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Clinical behavior and outcome of papillary T1 thyroid cancers: South Korea vs. Turkey vs. Colombia in a cohort study analyzing oncological outcomes

open access: yesAsian Journal of Surgery, 2020
Background/Purpose: There has not been an international multicentric study to examine the relationship between thyroid cancer clinical outcomes and geographic location for South Korea, Colombia, and Turkey, whereas thyroid cancer is amongst the highest ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.
