Thyroid ‘hot’ nodules [PDF]

open access: yesPostgraduate Medical Journal, 1972
Summary A retrospective analysis of thyroid scintiscanning at one hospital over a 3-year period revealed nineteen patients in whom a solitary, hyperfunctioning thyroid nodule was producing thyrotoxicosis. Most of the patients had clinical features referable to hyperthyroidism and in the majority a solitary nodule was ...

Investigating thyroid nodules.

open access: yesAustralian prescriber, 2021
Thyroid nodules are common clinically and even more common as an incidental finding during ultrasonography. Routine screening of thyroid nodules in patients with hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism without risk factors for thyroid cancer is not recommended. Most thyroid nodules are benign.

Safety and Technical Efficacy of Tumescent Anesthesia in Radiofrequency Ablation for Thyroid Nodules Close to the Surrounding Structure

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Ultrasound, 2019
Purpose: This study estimated the changes in distance between a thyroid nodule and the surrounding structures after tumescent anesthesia in radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for a benign thyroid nodule.

Long-term outcomes after a radioactive iodine treatment for a single autonomous functioning thyroid nodule in Japan

open access: yesEndocrine Journal
We investigated the association between a 500 MBq dose of radioactive iodine treatment (RAIT) and both thyroid nodule volume and thyroid function in patients with a single autonomous functioning thyroid nodule (AFTN).
