The 125I thyroid scan: Clinicopathologic correlation
International Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Biology, 1975For a 3built12 year period during which 125I was used as the routine agent for thyroid imaging, 95 cases of thyroid disease were reviewed in which a tissue diagnosis was obtained. The scan findings were usually distinctive in the cases of diffuse hyperplasia, but were of little help in separating the carcinomas from the nodular goiters or adenomas ...

Incidence of a Pyramidal Lobe on Thyroid Scans
Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 1982Gamma camera pertechnetate and radioiodine thyroid scans were reviewed to determine the incidence of recognition of a pyramidal lobe. Ten to 17% of "normals" and of patients with various thyroid disease states had a pyramidal lobe on their scans. However, in patients with diffuse toxic goiter, 43% had a pyramidal lobe on the thyroid images.

Thyroid pertechnetate scan in neonatal hyperthyroidism
Irish Journal of Medical Science, 1982As an aid to diagnosis in a patient with neonatal hyperthyroidism, a thyroid99mTc sodium pertechnetate scan was performed. This demonstrated the diffusely enlarged gland typical of Graves’ disease with a gland uptake in the hyperthyroid range. Thein-vivo thyroid scan gives immediate diagnostic information and under appropriate conditions delivers to ...

Rectilinear Thyroid Scanning as a Predictor of Malignancy
Annals of Internal Medicine, 1978Rectilinear scan findings were correlated with the surgically documented size, location, and histology of thyroid carcinoma in 67 patients. At the site of the carcinoma, 36 (54%) had hypofunction, associated with a palpable abnormality in all but one patient; 16 (24%) had an abnormality on palpation but not on scanning; 11 (16%) had both a normal ...

The Diagnosis of Thyroid Disease on Bone Scans
Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 1985Three cases are reported in which visualization of the thyroid occurred during Tc-99m pyrophosphate bone scans. All were found to be hyperthyroid with elevated serum thyroid hormone and two patients also had elevated 4-hour radioactive iodine uptakes.
