Fretting fatigue of Ti–6Al–4V under flat-on-flat contact

International Journal of Fatigue, 1999
A fretting fatigue test system has been developed to simulate the fretting fatigue damage that occurs in turbine engine blade attachments. The test system employs a flat-on-flat contact with blending radii, which reproduces the nominal levels of normal and internal shear stresses present in dovetails.

Investigation of variable amplitude loading on fretting fatigue behavior of Ti–6Al–4V

International Journal of Fatigue, 1999
Abstract The fretting fatigue behavior of Ti–6Al–4V under both constant amplitude and variable amplitude loadings was investigated. Constant amplitude fretting fatigue tests were conducted at a frequency of 200 Hz as well as at 1 Hz, while the variable amplitude loading combined the interaction of these two frequencies.

TEM and simulation studies of Ti3N ordered superstructure formed in intensified plasma assisted nitrided Ti–6Al–4V alloy

Thin Solid Films, 2002
Abstract We have used transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and image simulation techniques to systematically investigate the surface microstructures evolved in Ti–6Al–4V alloy after nitriding by intensified plasma assisted processing (IPAP). Cross-sectional TEM and X-ray energy-dispersive spectroscopy studies demonstrated that the surface layer in ...
