Reactive hot pressing of Ti–B–C and Ti–C at 1200°C

Ceramics International, 2013
Abstract Stoichiometric and non-stoichiometric powder mixtures of Ti–B4C and Ti–C with 1 wt% Ni were reactively hot pressed at 40 MPa, 1200 °C for 30 min. In both systems, the combined presence of Ni and non-stoichiometry enabled complete densification.

Kinetics of Combustion Synthesis in the Ti‐C and Ti‐C‐Ni Systems

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1989
The kinetics and mechanisms of combustion reactions in the Ti‐C and Ti‐C‐Ni systems were studied. Samples were produced by igniting compacts of elemental Ti, C, and Ni powders with a tungsten heating coil under an inert argon atmosphere.

Ternary systems Ti-Zr-C and Ti-Hf-C

Soviet Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics, 1967
The methods of x-ray structural phase analysis and microstructural examination have been used for plotting tentative phase diagrams of the ternary systems Ti-Zr-C and Ti-Hf-C. A slight break was found in the solubility of the ZrC-TiC CSSS, but the HfC-TiC CSSS was confirmed.

Calculation of the Ti-C, W-C and Ti-W-C phase diagrams

Calphad, 1984
Abstract The two binary W-C and Ti-C systems were analysed in thermodynamic terms by using a thermodynamic model which allows for the use of sublattices. Those carbides, which show some variation in their Me/C-ratios, such as the TiC-carbide were treated as solution phases using this model.

Mechanochemistry of Ti–C powder mixtures

Acta Materialia, 2014
Abstract This work focuses on the reactivity of Ti–C powder mixtures during ball milling. The kinetics of the mechanochemical reaction between Ti and C was investigated while systematically varying the chemical composition, the collision energy and the volume of the powder charge.
