Statistical Analysis of Multiple Bow Shock Crossings at Mars

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 19, 16 October 2025.
Abstract We conduct a statistical analysis of multiple bow shock (BS) crossings at Mars. Data from the magnetometer (MAG) and Solar Wind Ion Analyzer (SWIA) onboard the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) spacecraft from its first 2 years in orbit is used to identify flapping events.

Mars Express: From the Launch Pad to a 20-Year Success Record at Mars [PDF]

open access: yes
Mars Express was conceived and built by ESA as a successor of the unsuccessful Russian Mars-96 mission. It was planned from the onset as an orbiter and lander mission to be able to carry out long-term, remote sensing and in-situ scientific investigations

Deep Learning Eliminates Massive Dust Storms from Images of Tianwen-1

open access: yes, 2022
Abstract Dust storms may remarkably degrade the imaging quality of Martian orbiters and delay the progress of mapping the global topography and geomorphology. To address this issue, this paper presents an approach that reuses the image dehazing knowledge obtained on Earth to resolve the dust-removal problem on Mars. In this approach, we collect

Prediction for Arrival Time and Parameters of Corotation Interaction Regions using Earth–Mars Correlated Events from Tianwen-1, MAVEN, and Wind Observations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Using the Stream Interaction Regions list from the Tianwen-1/Mars Orbiter Magnetometer (MOMAG) data between 2021 November and 2021 December and from Wind observations, we present an accurate prediction for the arrival time and in situ parameters of ...

GAUSS - genesis of asteroids and evolution of the solar system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The goal of Project GAUSS (Genesis of Asteroids and evolUtion of the Solar System) is to return samples from the dwarf planet Ceres. Ceres is the most accessible candidate of ocean worlds and the largest reservoir of water in the inner Solar System.

Phase Boundaries Among Three Hydrous Ferric Sulfates and Their Implications for Mars

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 130, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract Ferric sulfate minerals have been identified by orbital and landed missions at multiple locations on Mars and are the most common minerals in the Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) system on Earth. The occurrences and the speciation of ferric sulfates are very sensitive to variations in environmental conditions, such as temperature (T), relative ...

Hydrous Components of Dusty Surfaces Inferred From Zhurong In Situ Observations

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 18, 28 September 2025.
Abstract The ubiquitous hydration features observed by Zhurong rover provided new insights into Mars aqueous paleoenvironments. However, the impact of the Martian dust was not previously discussed. Here, we conduct a joint analysis of the Multispectral Camera and Short‐Wave Infrared data to constrain the surface composition. The results show that these

The Importance of Pickup H+ Escape at Mars

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 18, 28 September 2025.
Abstract The loss of hydrogen ions on Mars to space largely occurs through the interaction of solar wind with planetary atmosphere. However, the relative importance of different ion escape channels is not yet fully understood. In addition, there are still open questions about the proportion of H+ ${\mathrm{H}}^{+}$ escape in relation to total hydrogen ...

Brachyury‐Activated Fucoidan Hydrogel Microspheres Rejuvenate Degenerative Intervertebral Discs Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 34, September 11, 2025.
This study describes the creation of injectable Brachyury (Bry) mRNA‐loaded Fucoidan‐functionalized GelMA hydrogel microspheres (BLNP@GF). These microspheres efficiently suppress inflammation, enhance extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis in degenerated nucleus pulposus cells, and mitigate intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) in rat models.
