Effect of TiB2 Pretreatment on Pt/TiB2 Catalyst Performance
Electrochimica Acta, 2014Abstract Carbon support corrosion of traditional Pt/C catalyst is one of the major contributors causing poor durability of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC). Titanium diboride (TiB 2 ) has high electrical conductivity and considerable chemical stability, which making it as a good candidate for catalyst support in PEMFC. In this work, TiB 2

Sintered porous cermets based on TiB2 and TiB2–TiC–Mo2C
Materials Chemistry and Physics, 2001Abstract TiB 2 powder, with different binders (Ni and Ni/Mn), after milling were cold compacted (300 MPa) and sintered in H 2 at 1300 and 1350°C for 1 h. To improve the sintering behaviour, TiC/Mo 2 C alloy carbide was added and the milled charge along with the same binders (Ni and Ni/Mn) was cold compacted and sintered under similar conditions ...

Microstructure and tribology of TiB2 and TiB2/TiN double-layer coatings
Surface and Coatings Technology, 1996Abstract TiB 2 /TiN double-layer coatings were prepared by ion-beam-enhanced deposition. Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high-resolution TEM (HRTEM) were employed to characterize the TiB 2 layer.

Theoretical investigation of TiB2 nanotubes
Microelectronics Journal, 2003Abstract We investigated the energetic and electronic properties of zig-zag titanium diboride (TiB2) nanotubes through ab initio density functional theory. It is determined that an isolated (6,0) bilayered TiB2 nanotube has a semiconductor character, with an energy gap of 1.32 eV.

Synthesis and sintering of TiB2 and TiB2–TiC composite under high pressure
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2000TiB2 and TiB2x2013;TiC composite compacts with 98x2013;99% density are prepared by high-pressure sintering (HPS) of premixed powders and by high-pressure self-combustion synthesis (HPCS) from the elemental constituents. The sintering and synthesis experiments are carried out at 3 GPa in the temperature and time ranges 2250x2013;2750 K and 5x2013;300 s,

Abstract The addition of 20 vol.% titanium diboride in particulate form (1–3 μm) to nickel aluminide (TiB 2 NiAl) results in a twofold increase in the high temperature strength of NiAl. There are at least two theories that have been proposed to account for the high temperature strength of discontinuous reinforced metal matrix composites.

High entropy alloys (HEAs) attract more and more attention due to their simple structure, high strength and hardness, good ductility, and excellent softening, oxidation, corrosion, and wear resistance properties. Among the known HEA systems, the AlCoCrFeNi alloy exhibits complicated microstructure and excellent mechanical properties. In this study, the

HREM study of TiB2/NiAl interfaces in a NiAl-TiB2 in-situ composite
Materials Letters, 1994The TiB2/NiAl interfaces in reactive hot-pressing (RHP) processed NiAl-20 vol% TiB2 in-situ composites were studied by means of high-resolution electron microscopy (HREM) including image simulation. There is no consistent orientation relationship between TiB2 particles and the NiAl matrix.

Synthesis and Properties of TiB2/TiN and TiB2/B4C Films
2004The TiB2/TiN and TiB2/B4C films with a thickness of approximately 1–2 μm were prepared by magnetron non-reactive d.c./r.f. sputtering on Si and stainless steel substrates. Sintered and hot-pressed targets of the individual compounds (TiB2, TiN and B4C) and their mixtures (25/75, 50/50 and 75/25 in weight percents) were used in the film preparation ...

Oxidation of monolithic TiB2 and TiB2–20wt.% MoSi2 composite at 850°C
Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2006Abstract The isothermal oxidation behavior of monolithic TiB 2 and TiB 2 –20 wt.% MoSi 2 composite was evaluated at 850 °C in air. The monolithic TiB 2 exhibited continuous weight gain with increasing time. The TiB 2 –MoSi 2 composite showed continuous weight gain till 16 h and afterwards the weight gain decreased markedly.
