On the oxidation behaviour of monolithic TiB2 and Al2O3-TiB2 and Si3N4-TiB2 composites
Journal of Thermal Analysis, 1992In view of the susceptibility of TiB2 to oxidation, the thermal stability of monolithic TiB2 and of Al2O3-30 vol% TiB2 and Si3N4-20 vol% TiB2 composites was investigated. The temperature at which TiB2 ceramic starts to oxidize is about 400°C, oxidation kinetics being controlled by diffusion up toT≈900°C and in the first stage of the oxidation at 1000°C

Tribological properties of TiB2 and TiB2–MoSi2 ceramic composites
Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2006Abstract Recently, dense monolithic TiB 2 and TiB 2 –20 wt.% MoSi 2 composites with high hardness (24–26 GPa) have been processed by hot pressing. To assess the tribological potential, the present study was performed in analyzing the influence of load on the fretting wear of TiB 2 and TiB 2 –MoSi 2 composites against bearing steel.
