Effect of Designed 3D Reinforcement in Mitigating Machining Damage on CFRP Plates

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 7, Page 6773-6784, 10 April 2026.
Effect of Edge Tufting on Surface Quality, Damage, and Mechanical Performance in CFRP Machining: A Comparative Topographical and Structural Analysis. ABSTRACT Composite materials made of carbon fiber‐reinforced epoxy (CFRP) are widely used in aerospace fields due to their high strength‐to‐weight ratio. However, due to low out‐of‐plane resistance, these

Ti6Al4V‐Bioglass‐Copper Composites for Load‐Bearing Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 13, 3 April 2026.
We have designed and manufactured a novel Ti64‐based composite by adding 45S5 bioglass (BG) and copper (Cu). Adding BG on titanium improves wear resistance and biocompatibility, whereas Cu addition improves mechanical strength while providing inherent lifelong bacterial resistance.

Microstructural evolution of V‐Ti‐B based high‐temperature alloys during surface conditioning by means of laser beam melting Entwicklung der Gefüge von V‐Ti‐B‐Hochtemperatur‐Legierungen während der Oberflächenmodifikation mittels selektivem Laserstrahlschmelzen

open access: yesMaterialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik, Volume 57, Issue 4, Page 272-285, April 2026.
This study explores laser beam melting (LBM) on V‐Ti‐B alloys for high‐temperature applications. By applying two laser power levels, researchers analyzed microstructural evolution via scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. Hardness tests revealed surface conditioning increases of 5 % ‐ 33 %.

Effect of Cu element on morphology of TiB2 particles in TiB2/Al−Cu composites

open access: yesTransactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China, 2020
Abstract In order to explore the influence of Cu element on the morphology evolution of the in-situ TiB2 particles, the 10 wt.% TiB2 reinforced Al−5wt.%Cu based composite was prepared by mixed salt casting. The morphology characterization and transformation of TiB2 reinforcements caused by Cu element were investigated by multi-scale microstructure ...

Synergistic Enhancement of Mechanical and Tribological Properties in TiB2/Mo Composites via Core–Shell Structure Mediated Dislocations Migration

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Ceramic reinforcement is crucial for crafting ultrastrong and wear‐resistant metallic components. However, pronounced stress concentration and strain incompatibility at ceramic–metal interfaces often trigger microcrack initiation and ceramic spalling exacerbating friction under sliding conditions.
