External fixation in Schatzker J´s type VI tibial plateau fracture

open access: yesArchivo Médico de Camagüey, 2020
Background: tibial plateau fractures are common traumatic lesions due to vertical compression in varus and valgus. That is why open fractures associated to skin loss are not so frequent, because they are caused by direct mechanisms. Objective: to show a

6'-Methoxy Raloxifene-analog enhances mouse bone properties with reduced estrogen receptor binding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Raloxifene (RAL) is an FDA-approved drug used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. RAL suppresses bone loss primarily through its role as a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM).

Distinct Immunomodulatory Strategies Guide Mesenchymal Stromal/Stem Cell‐Mediated Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone regeneration by mesenchymal stem cells is strongly influenced by immune signals. This study shows that priming stem cells with regulatory immune cells or an inflammation‐resolving lipid molecule enhances bone formation through distinct immune pathways.

An Implantable Scaffold Sequentially Releasing STING Agonist and B7‐H3 Antibody for Bone Metastasis Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We developed an implantable dual‐drug depot using GelMA for bone metastasis treatment, co‐delivering MSA‐2 and αB7‐H3‐loaded CaCO3 microparticles. Sustained release from GelMA scaffold enables MSA‐2 to activate STING signaling and enhance T‐cell infiltration and activation, while sequentially released αB7‐H3 blocks MSA‐2‐induced B7‐H3 upregulation ...

A Review of Tibial Shaft Fracture Fixation Methods

open access: yesTrauma Care, 2023
Tibial shaft fractures are a commonly seen injury in orthopedic trauma patients. Fractures commonly occur following high energy mechanisms, such as motor vehicle collisions. There are multiple ways to stabilize tibial shaft fractures.

ZMAT1 Promotes Osteoclastogenesis Through TRIM46 Mediated YAP1 Degradation and Inhibits Osteoblastogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Zmat1 deficiency mitigates pathological bone loss by impairing osteoclastogenesis and promoting osteoblastogenesis. Mechanistically, in osteoclasts, Zmat1 loss relieves transcriptional repression of the E3 ligase TRIM46, promoting YAP1 degradation and inhibiting osteoclastogenic genes.
