Microfabricated Anisotropic Myobundles for the Scalable Production of Cardiac Tissue Grafts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the anisotropy of cardiac tissue remains an outstanding challenge in the field of cardiac tissue engineering. Here, we introduce an approach to generate anisotropic cardiac myobundles using cell‐adhesive, synthetic, electrospun fibers and stem cell‐derived cardiac fibroblasts.

Detection of Candidatus Neoehrlichia mikurensis and Ehrlichia muris in Estonian ticks

open access: yes, 2017
So far neglected bacteria like Candidatud Neoehrlichia mikurensis and Ehrlichia muris-like agents get increased attention in the recent past. Ixodid ticks were demonstrated to harbor both of these pathogens.

Water‐Compatible SuFEx‐Active Diazonium Linchpin Platform for Rapid Modular Diversification and On‐DNA Functionalization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sulfur fluoride exchange (SuFEx) is a powerful click platform, yet water‐compatible multifunctional linchpins remain elusive. Here, we report decagram‐scalable diazonium linchpins that enable rapid Pd‐catalyzed diversification and direct, catalyst‐free on‐DNA ligation in aqueous media.

Modular Control of PEG‐Poly(2‐Oxazoline) Co‐Assembly Enables Tunable Aggregate Properties for Intraocular Pressure Management

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A thermo‐responsive poly(2‐oxazoline)‐based injectable formulation is developed to modulate intraocular pressure (IOP) in both normal and hypotonic eyes. By adjusting the PEG content, the aggregation behavior is finely tuned, enabling IOP elevation without long‐term deposition.

Tracking Spatiotemporal Extracellular Matrix Evolution and Tissue Fusion in 3D Microtissues via Click Chemistry‐Based Metabolic Labelling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Metabolic labeling of nascent proteins in 3D microtissue spheroids provides a powerful analytical approach for large‐scale tissue engineering. Incorporation of non‐canonical amino acids with fluorescent tagging enables spatiotemporal investigation of extracellular matrix deposition and its evolution during multicellular tissue development and fusion ...

Comparison of Microscopy and PCR-RFLP for detection of Anaplasma marginale in carrier cattle

open access: yesIranian Journal of Microbiology, 2010
Background and Objectives: In Iran, anaplasmosis is normally diagnosed with traditional Giemsa staining method. This is not applicable for identification of the carrier animals. The aim of this study was to compare the detection of Anaplasma marginale in

Detection and characterization of rickettsiae in Western Australia

open access: yes, 2007
The aim of this study was to address the shortfall in current, in-depth knowledge of Western Australian rickettsiae investigating in particular, the role of native and feral animals as reservoir hosts.

Metagenomic Profile of Bacterial Communities of Hyalomma scupense and Hyalomma asiaticum Ticks in Kazakhstan

open access: yes
Ticks are important vectors of pathogens affecting humans and animals, posing a serious threat to health. For the first time, we studied the metagenomic profile of the microbial composition of Hyalomma scupense and Hyalomma asiaticum ticks in Kazakhstan.

Vector of Trypanosoma copemani identified as Ixodes sp.

open access: yes, 2011
A total of 41 ticks were collected from 15 quokkas on Bald Island and 2 ticks from a Gilbert's potoroo from Two Peoples Bay. Three species of Ixodid ticks Ixodes australiensis, Ixodes hirsti and Ixodes myrmecobii were identified on the quokkas known to ...
