Effects of sea level rise and tidal flat growth on tidal dynamics and geometry of the Elbe estuary [PDF]

open access: yesOcean Science
Future global mean sea level rise (SLR) will affect coastlines and estuaries in the North Sea and therefore also coastal protection structures, unique local ecosystems and important waterways. SLR will not only raise water levels but also influence tidal

Retrieval of Tidal Flat Elevation Based on Remotely Sensed Moisture Approach

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2022
Due to challenging conditions of field survey techniques, it is difficult to measure the topography of tidal flats, an important parameter to understanding the evolution and dynamics of the constantly changing zone.

Sedimentary lithofacies, petrography and diagenesis of the Kapuni group in the Kapuni Field, Taranaki Basin, New Zealand : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science with Honours in Earth Science at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The reservoir architecture and quality of the Kapuni Group sandstones in seven wells (Kapuni−1, −3, −8, −12, Deep−1, 14 and −15) in the Kapuni Field are characterised using available core and digital geophysical log data.

Hydrogel‐Based Airway‐on‐Tube With Perfusable Endothelial Lumen and Outward Epithelialization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel‐based airway‐on‐tube platform featuring a perfusable endothelial lumen and outward epithelialization is presented. The system supports primary human bronchial epithelial and lung microvascular endothelial coculture under air‐liquid interface conditions.

Local positive feedback and the persistence and recovery of fringe Avicennia marina (Forssk.) Vierh. mangroves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
While mangrove restoration efforts are reasonably successful, failure often occurs in high wave energy situations. Due to differences in wave energy, seedling mortality rates vary strongly with position on the intertidal flat between high water spring ...

Rational Tuning of Hygroscopic Oscillation of Stacked Nanoflake Assemblies for Continuous Ambient Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Stacked nanoflake assembly (SNA) membranes can oscillate autonomously, offering opportunities for soft actuation and energy harvesting. This work uncovers the physical mechanism behind the sustained oscillation of SNA membranes in gradient humidity and identifies three governing dimensionless parameters, enabling rational design for optimizing SNA ...

Sedimentary facies characteristics and metallogenic model of the lower Cambrian Maidiping formation in the Huangjiaping phosphate deposit, Mabian County, southern Sichuan

open access: yesDizhi lixue xuebao, 2023
The lower Cambrian Maidiping formation in the Mabian area of southern Sichuan is a crucial ore-bearing horizon for Kunyang-style phosphate ores. The sedimentary paleoenvironment controls the distribution of phosphate ore.

Feeding ecology of Liza spp. in a tidal flat: Evidence of the importance of primary production (biofilm) and associated meiofauna

open access: yes, 2013
International audienceGrey mullets are unique among temperate-region fish species in their ability to feed on mudflat biofilm. In this study, we examined mullet feeding strategies on biofilm and associated meiofauna by using a diet study and stable ...

Buckling‐Driven Linearity in Flexible Capacitive Pressure Sensors Based on a Three‐Dimensional Dual‐Pore Polyurethane Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A flexible pressure sensor utilizing a 3D dual‐pore polyurethane structure is developed to overcome the intrinsic trade‐off between sensitivity and linearity. By inducing sequential buckling through distinct pore sizes and shapes, the device achieves highly linear and sensitive responses across a wide pressure range.

Impact of Increased Satellite Observation Frequency on Mapping of Long-Term Tidal Flat Area Changes

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Remote sensing of tidal flats and their dynamic changes is essential for understanding and conserving intertidal ecosystems. As a highly dynamic land cover type influenced by tidal variations, tidal flats present challenges for consistent long-term ...
