Long-Term Morphological Modeling of Barrier Island Tidal Inlets
The primary focus of this study is to apply a two-dimensional (2-D) coupled flow-wave-sediment modeling system to simulate the development and growth of idealized barrier island tidal inlets. The idealized systems are drawn from nine U.S.

Characterization of Viscous Dissipative Heating in the Earth's Mantle Caused by Surface Forces
Viscous dissipative heating has long been discussed as a heat source in solid celestial bodies experiencing exogenic forces such as tidal forcing or surface loading.

Tidal forces in Kiselev black hole [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to examine the tidal forces occurred in Kiselev black hole surrounded by radiation and dust fluids. It is noted that radial and angular component of tidal force change the sign between event and Cauchy horizons. We solve the geodesic deviation equation for radially free falling bodies toward Kiselev black holes.

Patterns and drivers of daily bed-level dynamics on two tidal flats with contrasting wave exposure
Short-term bed-level dynamics has been identified as one of the main factors affecting biota establishment or retreat on tidal flats. However, due to a lack of proper instruments and intensive labour involved, the pattern and drivers of daily bed-level ...

A Numerical Study of Long-Return Period Near-Bottom Ocean Currents in Lower Cook Inlet, Alaska
Lower Cook Inlet (LCI) is an important waterway with very large tides and high marine productivity. Oceanographic forcing in LCI is complex due to a combination of tides, seasonal winds, and large freshwater discharges, as well as inflow from the Alaska ...

Longitudinal and lateral circulation and tidal impacts in salt-plug estuaries
This study presents a comparison of forcings between density gradient and tides in idealized funnel-shaped salt-plug estuaries. Three-dimensional numerical model results also examine longitudinal and lateral circulations.

Nonlinear forcing mechanisms of the migrating terdiurnal solar tide and their impact on the zonal mean circulation [PDF]
We investigate the forcing mechanisms of the terdiurnal solar tide in the middle atmosphere using a mechanistic global circulation model. In order to quantify their individual contributions, we perform several model experiments and separate each forcing ...

Tidal impacts on air-sea CO2 exchange on the North-West European shelf
Tidal forcing is a dominant physical forcing mechanism on the Northwest European Shelf (NWES) that regulates the mixing-stratification status of the water column and thus acts as a major control for biological productivity and air-sea CO2 exchange. Tides
