Residual circulation from nonlinear interaction of the tidal currents with topography in channels, fjords and bays can be important to represent the distance traveled by suspended materials in the water column (e.g. pathogens).

Tidal interactions and infrared-bright QSOs
Deep direct images of five IRAS-selected QSOs with similar IR luminosities and spectral indices have been analyzed. The present objects possess IR luminosities similar to those of the IRAS flux-lined sample of ultraluminous galaxies, but have IR spectral indices similar to those of normal QSOs.

In colorectal cancer, high expression of the DNA repair protein EEPD1 correlates with immune exclusion and poor prognosis. This study demonstrates that EEPD1 depletion induces genomic instability, leading to cytosolic DNA accumulation and subsequent activation of the cGAS‐STING‐type I interferon pathway. This cascade remodels the tumor microenvironment

Study on Dynamic Monitoring of Tidal Flat Based on UAV Technology
The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) has the characteristics of high efficiency, small size and cost, which can monitor the evolution trend of tidal flat, and can also observe the short-duration developments of tidal flat that are difficult to be captured ...

The Absence of Extra-Tidal Structure in the Sculptor Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy
The results of a wide-field survey of the Sculptor dwarf spheroidal galaxy are presented. Our aims were to obtain an accurate map of the outer structure of Sculptor, and to determine the level of interaction between this system and the Galaxy. Photometry

Effects of tidal interactions on the gas flows of elliptical galaxies [PDF]
During a Hubble time, cluster galaxies may undergo several mutual encounters close enough to gravitationally perturb their hot, X-ray emitting gas flows.

White Dwarf Tidal Interactions
The tidal interactions of white dwarf binaries are crucial for understanding the fates of these systems when they merge, connecting them to different classes of astrophysical explosions and other binary systems. New discoveries of compact white dwarf binaries are putting important constraints on these tidal interactions.

Tidal interactions of inspiraling compact binaries
We discuss the tidal interaction in neutron star-neutron star and neutron star-black hole binaries and argue that they will not be tidally locked during the gravitational inspiral. More specifically, we show that, for inspiraling neutron stars of mass greater than about 1.2 solar mass, the shortest possible tidal synchronization time exceeds the ...

Chiral‐Encoded Pt‐Ir Surfaces as Apparent Spin Filter for Enhanced Oxygen Reduction
The Chiral‐Induced Spin Selectivity (CISS) effect is employed in chiral‐encoded mesoporous Platinum‐Iridium (Pt‐Ir) electrocatalysts to enhance the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). A break in spin symmetry leads to a substantial antagonistic difference in activity (>200%) when comparing two enantiomorphs of the same electrode.

Health disparities in chronic liver disease
Abstract The syndemic of hazardous alcohol consumption, opioid use, and obesity has led to important changes in liver disease epidemiology that have exacerbated health disparities. Health disparities occur when plausibly avoidable health differences are experienced by socially disadvantaged populations.
