Note on the redistribution and dissipation of tidal energy over mid-ocean ridges [PDF]

open access: yesTellus: Series A, Dynamic Meteorology and Oceanography, 2015
The redistribution and dissipation of internal wave energy arising from the conversion at mid-ocean ridges of the barotropic tide is studied in a set of numerical experiments.

Tidal effects on brown dwarfs: Application to the eclipsing binary 2MASSJ05352184-0546085 - The anomalous temperature reversal in the context of tidal heating

open access: yes, 2010
2MASSJ05352184-0546085 (2M0535-05) is the only known eclipsing brown dwarf (BD) binary, and so may serve as an important benchmark for models of BD formation and evolution.

Orbital Eccentricity Growth through Disc–Companion Tidal Interactions [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 2001
We present the results of 2–D non linear hydrodynamic simulations performed to examine the driving of orbital eccentricity through disc-companion tidal interaction. We examine the eccentricity evolution for companion masses, mp, in the range 1 > mp >; 30 MJupiter.

Corals and Reef‐Dwelling Fish Regulate Carbon Storage and Cycling Processes in Coral Reef Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Coral reefs are biodiversity hotspots, yet their role in carbon storage and cycling remains poorly understood. Using field surveys and modeling in the South China Sea, we reveal the overlooked potential of carbon storage in reef ecosystems and how reef fish, corals, and surface sediment jointly shape reef carbon reservoirs.

RTide: Automating the Tidal Response Method

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation
Nonstationary tidal processes, such as tidal rivers and storm surge, present challenges for analysis and prediction because their inherent nonstationarity encumbers the use of standard tidal analysis tools like harmonic analysis.

Sedimentary Architecture of Storm-Influenced Tidal Flat Deposits of the Upper Mulichinco Formation, Neuquén Basin, Argentina

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2020
This study reports on the Lower Cretaceous upper Mulichinco Formation in the Neuquén Basin, west-central Argentina. The studied succession comprises shallow marine strata, deposited in a mixed wave and tidal flat environment where ebb-tidal currents ...

The inner structure and kinematics of the Sagittarius dwarf galaxy as a product of tidal stirring [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The tidal stirring model envisions the formation of dwarf spheroidal (dSph) galaxies in the Local Group via the tidal interaction of disky dwarf systems with a larger host galaxy like the Milky Way.

Endogenous Ceramide 24:1 Constrains Th17‐Driven Neutrophilic Inflammation by Antagonizing EP2 Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cer24:1 levels are reduced in neutrophilic asthma and inversely correlate with disease severity and airway neutrophilia. Restoring Cer24:1 suppresses pathogenic Th17 differentiation by engaging EP2 on CD4+ T cells, thereby dampening the JAK2–STAT3–RORγt axis and reducing IL‐17 production.

Effect of contracted river on tidal bore in Qiantang Estuary

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan
Since the late 1960s, the Qiantang Estuary has been narrowed on a large scale, significantly changing the water-sediment dynamics, riverbed evolution and their interaction processes.

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cancer immunotherapy faces challenges in predicting treatment responses and understanding resistance mechanisms. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) offer powerful solutions for cancer immunotherapy in patient stratification, biomarker discovery, treatment strategy optimization, and foundation model development.
