A Decoupled Cycling Architecture of Asymmetric Zinc‐Air Battery Unlocks Stable Catalyst Strategy and pH‐Dynamic Influence

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A decoupled cycling architecture along with cost‐effective membrane and efficient catalyst is developed for asymmetric zinc‐air battery. The decoupled design ensures stable operation of catalyst and the pH‐dynamic influence on battery performance is explored, which provides paths for efficient utilization of pH‐decoupling electrolytes.

Chiral‐Encoded Pt‐Ir Surfaces as Apparent Spin Filter for Enhanced Oxygen Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Chiral‐Induced Spin Selectivity (CISS) effect is employed in chiral‐encoded mesoporous Platinum‐Iridium (Pt‐Ir) electrocatalysts to enhance the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). A break in spin symmetry leads to a substantial antagonistic difference in activity (>200%) when comparing two enantiomorphs of the same electrode.

Reliability evaluation of tidal and wind power generation system with battery energy storage

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2016
This paper presents a method for reliability evaluation of a hybrid generation system of wind and tidal powers with battery energy storage. Such a system may widely exist in coastal areas and islands in the future.

The Stellar Populations of Praesepe and Coma Berenices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We present the results of a stellar membership survey of the nearby open clusters Praesepe and Coma Berenices. We have combined archival survey data from the SDSS, 2MASS, USNOB1.0, and UCAC-2.0 surveys to compile proper motions and photometry for ~5 ...

Synchronization‐Dissipation in the Cardiorespiratory System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By modeling central nervous coupling and viscoelastic interactions in the cardiorespiratory system we show that synchronization produces a 10% gain in cardiac efficiency in humans. It is surmised that respiratory sinus arrhythmia improves cardiac pumping efficiency by reducing dynamic stress and power dissipation in the pulmonary vasculature.

Tidal Current Energy Resource Distribution in Korea

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
Korea is a very well-known country for having abundant tidal current energy resources. There are many attractive coastal areas for the tidal current power that have very strong currents due to the high tidal range and the acceleration through the narrow ...

A Piezo‐Mimetic Ionic Hydrogel Harnessing Joint Motion for Cartilage Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A piezo‐mimetic ionic hydrogel converts mechanical deformation into bioactive ionic currents via stress‐induced asymmetric ion migration. Coupled with sustained Mg2+ release, this mechano‐electrochemical platform bridges mechanical loading and cellular signaling, enabling load‐adaptive stimulation and enhanced cartilage regeneration. ABSTRACT Articular

Numerical study of hydrodynamic mechanism of dynamic tidal power

open access: yesWater Science and Engineering, 2018
Dynamic tidal power is a new way of capturing tidal energy by building a water head using a dike perpendicular to the coast. This study explored the hydrodynamic mechanism of the water head across an intended dynamic tidal power dike system using the ...

Microstructured Tactile Sensors With Bismuth Telluride Coatings for Vibration Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The study reports a high‐performance piezoresistive vibration sensor (PVS) based on a Bi₀.5Sb₁.5Te3 functional layer on a PDMS microstructured substrate. The device exhibits high sensitivity (0.24 kPa−1), fast response, and excellent durability over 10 000 cycles.
