Tidal Triggering of Moonquakes [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 1972
It is argued that the moonquakes recorded by sensors at the Apollo 12 landing site between December 1969 and December 1970, and which according to Latham et al. (1971) are believed to be triggered by the anomalistic lunar tide, could be triggered just as well by the latitudinal (or declination) tidal wave.

Radon degassing triggered by tidal loading before an earthquake [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
AbstractThe presence of anomalous geochemical changes related to earthquakes has been controversial despite widespread, long time challenges for earthquake prediction. Establishing a quantitative relationship among geochemical changes and geodetical and seismological changes can clarify their hidden connection.

Tidal Venuses: Triggering a Climate Catastrophe via Tidal Heating [PDF]

open access: yesAstrobiology, 2013
Traditionally stellar radiation has been the only heat source considered capable of determining global climate on long timescales. Here we show that terrestrial exoplanets orbiting low-mass stars may be tidally heated at high enough levels to induce a runaway greenhouse for a long enough duration for all the hydrogen to escape.

Enhanced Tidal Sensitivity of Seismicity Before the 2019 Magnitude 7.1 Ridgecrest, California Earthquake

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
Earth's crust is continuously subjected to oscillatory stress perturbations due to the solid Earth and ocean tides. The seismic response to such stress modulations carries information on earthquake physics and crustal properties.

Delayed tracheal extubation after cardiac surgery due to cardiogenic ventilator auto-triggering: a case report

open access: yesJA Clinical Reports, 2021
Background Ventilator auto-triggering is associated with poor outcomes. Herein, we present a case of delayed tracheal extubation after cardiac surgery due to cardiogenic auto-triggering.

Tidal triggering of earthquakes [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1975
abstractAnalysis of the tidal stress tensor at the time of moderate to large earthquakes fails to confirm an earlier hypothesis that the origin times of shallow dip-slip earthquakes correlate with solid-earth tidal shear stress. Furthermore, no correlation is seen for either tidal shear stress or tidal normal-to-the-fault compressive stress with ...

The fortnightly tide and the tidal triggering of earthquakes [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1989
In this paper we test the southern California network earthquake catalog and the world-wide earthquake catalog for a fortnightly tidal periodicity and find none. In studies that test the hypothesis of tidal triggering of earthquakes, it is usually necessary to resolve the tidal shear stress onto the plane of the fault and in the direction of the ...

Reverse triggering induced by endotracheal tube leak in lightly sedated ARDS patient

open access: yesJournal of Intensive Care, 2018
Reverse triggering is respiratory entrainment triggered by the ventilator especially seen among heavily sedated patients. We confirmed reverse triggering induced by auto-triggering in lightly sedated patient through an esophageal pressure monitoring. The

Effects of jet nebulization on ventilator performance with different invasive ventilation modes: A bench study

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2022
BackgroundThe effects of jet nebulization on ventilator performance in the volume control mode (VC) and pressure control mode (PC) of ventilation have not been determined.ObjectivesThe present study investigated the impact of jet nebulization on ...

Tidally Triggered Star Formation in Close Pairs of Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2000
We analyze new optical spectra of a sample of 502 galaxies in close pairs and n-tuples, separated by <= 50/h kpc. We extracted the sample objectively from the CfA2 redshift survey, without regard to the surroundings of the tight systems. We probe the relationship between star formation and the dynamics of the systems of galaxies.
