Latitudinal Clines in Temperature and Salinity Tolerance in Tidepool Copepods [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Heredity, 2017
Local adaptation has been understudied in marine systems, but might be expected to be pronounced in the tidepool copepod Tigriopus californicus, which has a broad geographic range and extremely restricted dispersal. Tolerance to temperature and salinity was assessed in 14 populations over a 20° latitudinal range. Adaptive differentiation to temperature

Prezygotic reproductive barriers in precopulatory behavior of tidepool copepod species [PDF]

open access: yesEvolution, 2023
Abstract Complexity in prezygotic mating behavior can contribute to the emergence of sexual incompatibility and reproductive isolation. In this study, we performed behavioral tests with two tidepool copepod species of the genus Tigriopus to explore the possibility of precopulatory behavioral isolation.

Transformations in Diabetes Care: Lessons From Commons-Based, Peer-Produced Citizen Science. [PDF]

open access: yesSociol Health Illn
ABSTRACT Medical technologies have historically been the domain of private entities and public institutions. However, this market–state model is being challenged by commons‐based, peer‐produced citizen science. Here, we present a community of people with diabetes, which has developed life‐critical medical devices through open‐source innovation, as a ...

Distribution patterns of tidepool fishes on a tropical flat reef [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Rockpools on a tropical f lat reef off the southeastern coast of Brazil were sampled to determine the influence of pool morphometry and water characteristics on fish community structure. The pool closest to the inner fringe of the reef had lower salinity and higher temperature due to inflow of groundwater.

Small-scale variation in tropical tidepool fish assemblages. [PDF]

open access: yesBiol Lett
Habitat heterogeneity is known to promote species diversity and other effects in communities by increasing structural complexity, access to food resources and to refuge spaces. However, the influence of environmental heterogeneity at small spatial scale settings is challenging to detect and to measure. In tropical intertidal rocky shores, the low tidal

Biomass compensation: Behind the diversity gradients of tidepool fishes

open access: yesBiomass compensation: Behind the diversity gradients of tidepool fishes
Species richness is unevenly distributed on the Earth, with biodiversity gradients of various spatial scales supposedly being affected by abiotic as well as biotic factors including community traits such as body size spectra and relative abundance patterns. To explore large-scale spatial variation in species diversity and their processes, tidepool fish

A European regulatory pathway for Tidepool loop following clearance in the United States? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The recent clearance by the United States Food and Drug Administration of Tidepool Loop sets an important precedent within the medical device landscape. For the first time, an automated insulin delivery mobile application—based on an algorithm initially ...

Growth and reproduction of the tidepool sculpinOligocottus maculosus

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Ichthyology, 1990
Growth and reproduction of tidepool sculpins (Oligocottus maculosus) from three sites in Puget Sound, Washington State, USA were characterized. One site was a sandy, gently sloping beach, the second was an exposed rock headland with minimal algal cover, and the third was an exposed rock headland with numerous tidepools containing abundant algal cover ...

Rethinking control-IQ+ technology: Simple strategies for easy optimization. [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes Obes Metab
Abstract Control‐IQ+ is an automated insulin delivery (AID) algorithm approved for people with type 1 diabetes aged 2+ years and adults aged 18+ years with type 2 diabetes. While numerous publications support improved glycaemia and quality of life for people with diabetes, this practice paper is intended to encourage uptake for healthcare professionals

Intertidal fishes of Mauritius with special reference to shallow tidepools [PDF]

open access: yesBiodiversity Data Journal, 2019
Intertidal fishes are found in large numbers and play an important role in their ecosystems, but knowledge of their ecology is still very limited in many tropical regions. Within this context, data from intertidal fishes in Mauritius were compiled from different sources and intertidal resident species were examined in Mauritian tidepools.
