Real‐world glycaemic outcomes observed with the use of Medtronic 780G, Tandem Control‐IQ and Omnipod 5 automated insulin delivery systems

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, Volume 43, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Background No randomised controlled trials have directly compared commercially available hybrid automated insulin delivery (AID) systems, and real‐world comparative data remain limited. This study evaluated glycaemic outcomes across three hybrid AID systems in adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

FIG. 1 in Taurus of the Tidepool? Inferring the Function of Cranial Weapons in Intertidal Sculpins (Pisces: Cottoidea: Oligocottinae)

open access: yes, 2023
FIG. 1. Location and morphology of the preopercle (outlined in red) in Clinocottus analis (left panel; OS 26170, 76.55 mm SL) and diversity of preopercle shape as represented in six phylogenetically dispersed cottoid species (right panel, clockwise from ...

Breaking Boundaries: First Observation of Intertidal Emergence During Mating in Octopuses

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
We document the first recorded case of intertidal emergence during copulation in Callistoctopus macropus. A mating pair gradually moved from shallow water onto the rocky shore while remaining attached, with the female resisting and the male counter‐anchoring for nearly 20 min before re‐submerging.

Performance Implications of Divergent Shell Size Preferences and Exoskeleton Mass of Two Closely Related Hermit Crabs

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
Two co‐occurring species of hermit crabs use very different shell sizes, one species using shells that are too small to accommodate all the carapace or claws. The two crab species were found to have diverged in their adaptations to their environment: one species adopting a suite of traits, including the use of large shells, that enhance protection from

Micro‐Refuges or Ecological Traps: Context‐Dependent Effects of Rock Pools on Intertidal Biodiversity Across Latitudes

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Biogeography, Volume 35, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim We investigated how local‐scale environmental heterogeneity influences biodiversity patterns across broad biogeographic gradients, using intertidal microhabitats as a model system within one of the most environmentally stressful ecosystems on Earth.

Inter-population thermal variability and physiological response in the intertidal fish Scartichthys viridis (Blenniidae) Variabilidad térmica intrapoblacional y respuesta fisiológica en el pez intermareal Scartichthys viridis (Blenniidae)

open access: yesRevista Chilena de Historia Natural, 2007
Determining habitat conditions that generate individual physiological variability represents key basic knowledge to understand the direction of animal's responses to habitat change.

Distribution of antibiotic resistant bacteria and genes in sewage and surrounding environment of Tórshavn, Faroe Islands

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
Several studies have investigated the effects of swimming in sewage-polluted recreational beach water, highlighting the associated health hazards. To mitigate potential pathogen transmission, it is imperative that the polluted water is released away from

Quantifying fish‐derived nutrient hotspots across reefscapes

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 1, Page 143-156, January 2026.
We show how reef structural complexity at multiple scales shapes fish‐driven nutrient hotspots and benthic enrichment. By identifying thresholds in relief and fine‐scale complexity, our study reveals when and where nutrient hotspots may form on coral reefs, offering practical guidance for coral reef restoration and ecosystem management.

A systematic literature review and meta‐analysis of real‐world evidence on commercially available automated insulin delivery systems in people with type 1 diabetes

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue S1, Page 13-34, January 2026.
Abstract Aims Automated insulin delivery (AID) is part of the standard of care for type 1 diabetes (T1D), but real‐world evidence (RWE) comparing AID systems remains limited. A systematic review and meta‐analysis was conducted for outcomes across commercially available AID systems in real‐world settings.
