Modeling the Influence of Environment and Intervention onCholera in Haiti
We propose a simple model with two infective classes in order to model the cholera epidemic in Haiti. We include the impact of environmental events (rainfall, temperature and tidal range) on the epidemic in the Artibonite and Ouest regions by introducing

Mangrove sedimentary characteristics and implications for crab Ucides cordatus (Crustacea, Decapoda, Ucididae) distribution in an estuarine area of the Amazonian region [PDF]
At the coastal zone sediments, water and organisms interact intensely. At equatorial tidal-dominated coast mangroves are abundant. These areas are well-known for their ecological importance.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Earth Tides and Ocean Tides [PDF]
I AM in entire sympathy with Mr. Lambert's plea in NATURE of June 21, p. 889, for further research on earth tides. It is much to be regretted that so little has hitherto been effected in that direction. I only wish our “far-flung” Empire had done its share in investigating geophysical problems connected with the earth's crust.

Winds and Waves (4 Min - 11 Yrs) in the Upper Middle Atmosphere (60-110 Km) at Saskatoon, Canada (52 Deg N, 107 Deg W): MF Radar (2.2 Mhz) Soundings 1973 - 1983 [PDF]
Examples of gravity waves (GW), tides, planetary waves (PW), and circulation effects in the upper middle atmosphere are presented. Energy densities of GW, tides, and PW are compared.

This study shows that lizard osteoderm capping tissue is a hyper‐mineralized hydroxyapatite layer consistently covering the superficial osteoderm surface in those species studied here, yet it varies greatly in morphology, nanostructure, and mechanical performance across species.

A Bayesian model for online customer reviews data in tourism research: a robust analysis
The Bayesian approach to data analysis is useful when the variables considered are already subjective or abstract, as is the case with online consumer reviews and ratings in tourism research.

Developing wine tourism experiences. A discrete choice analysis using best-worst scaling data
The aim of this research is to aid winery managers in bundling a plethora of different service features to meet the wine tourists’ expectations. A discrete choice model using best-worst scaling (BWS) data is estimated to obtain the relative importance of
