The Tight Sand Reservoir Characteristics and Gas Source in Coal Measures: A Case Study of Typical Areas in China

open access: yesGeofluids, 2022
Interbedded sandstones, shales, and coal seams were formed in marine-continental transitional environments of coal measures, and the gas source of its tight sand gas has been uncertain, which hinders the progress of natural gas exploration.

High-temperature ceramic-to-ceramic seals [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Noble-metal braze applied to appropriately prepared zirconia parts produces a gas-tight, durable seal that can withstand temperature of 825 C for over 2000 hours without ...

Production of a Fermi gas of atoms in an optical lattice

open access: yes, 2003
We prepare a degenerate Fermi gas of potassium atoms by sympathetic cooling with rubidium atoms in a one-dimensional optical lattice. In a tight lattice we observe a change of the density of states of the system, which is a signature of quasi two ...

Onsager coefficients of a finite-time Carnot cycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We study a finite-time Carnot cycle of a weakly interacting gas which we can regard as a nearly ideal gas in the limit of $T_\mathrm{h}-T_\mathrm{c}\to 0$ where $T_\mathrm{h}$ and $T_\mathrm{c}$ are the temperatures of the hot and cold heat reservoirs ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Method of making pressure tight seal for super alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
A procedure for forming a pressure tight seal along two edges of super alloy sheets is presented. The procedure consists of flame spraying a powdered aluminum-nickel composition on the joint.

Soluble Models of Strongly Interacting Ultracold Gas Mixtures in Tight Waveguides

open access: yes, 2007
A generalized Fermi-Bose mapping method is used to determine the exact ground states of several models of mixtures of strongly interacting ultracold gases in tight waveguides, which are generalizations of the Tonks-Girardeau (TG) gas (1D Bose gas with ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Valley Splitting Theory of SiGe/Si/SiGe Quantum Wells

open access: yes, 2006
We present an effective mass theory for SiGe/Si/SiGe quantum wells, with an emphasis on calculating the valley splitting. The theory introduces a valley coupling parameter, $v_v$, which encapsulates the physics of the quantum well interface.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
