CO2 injection for enhanced oil recovery in Bakken tight oil reservoirs

Fuel, 2015
The combination of horizontal drilling and multi-stage hydraulic fracturing have boosted the oil production from Bakken tight oil reservoirs. However, the primary oil recovery factor is very low due to the extremely tight formation, resulting in substantial volumes of oil still remaining in place.

Micro/Nanopore Systems in Lacustrine Tight Oil Reservoirs, China

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2021
A nanoscale pore throat system develops extensively in rocks of unconventional reservoirs serving as both source and reservoir rock. The nanoscale pores provide the main storage spaces, accounting for 70% to 80% of the total unconventional tight reservoirs in China.

Steam Injection in Tight Oil Reservoir

SPE Improved Oil Recovery Conference, 2018
Abstract Steam injection—a thermal-based enhanced oil recovery (EOR) process—is used to improve fluid mobility within a reservoir, and it is well known that it yields positive results in heavy-oil reservoirs. In theory, steam injection has the potential of being applied in light-oil reservoirs to enable vaporization of in-situ reservoir ...

Wettability Alteration in a Tight Oil Reservoir

Energy & Fuels, 2013
In fractured reservoirs, the efficiency of water flood is governed by spontaneous imbibition of water into oil-containing matrix blocks. When the matrix is oil-wet or mixed-wet, little oil can be recovered by imbibition. The objective of this work is to identify chemicals that can be added to the injection water that can induce imbibition into an ...
