Topography and Canopy Structure Interactively Shape Understory Functional Diversity
Journal of Vegetation Science, Volume 37, Issue 1, January/February 2026.In this transect‐based study on broadleaved forests in the Apennines (Italy), we studied how elevation and aspect filter the understory through single‐ and multi‐trait functional diversity. We found that overall functional diversity decreased along south‐facing slopes but showed no trend on north‐facing slopes.
