Depth and Spacing of tile Drain Systems
Journal of the Irrigation and Drainage Division, 1962Paper discusses saturation of agricultural soil by over-irrigation or rain; downward seepage flow through porous soil to system of parallel tile drains is studied, and theory of hydrodynamics is developed for providing scientific basis for design; new spacing formula is obtained based on time variation of water table; effect of evaporation from soil ...

Tile Automaton: A Model for an Architecture of a Living System
Artificial Life, 1999To understand an architecture of a living system, “Tile Automaton” is introduced as an abstract model of chemical reaction of molecules scattered over a space. The model consists of tiles of various shapes that stand for molecules. The chemical reaction, induced by the collisions of tiles, is represented by the change of the tile shapes. The rules for

Recognizability of Polyhexes by Tiling and Wang Systems
2009The polyhexes are the hexagonal polyominoes on the honeycomb lattice. In this paper we define various types of polyhexes and show that various classes of column (row) polyhexes can be naturally represented as two dimensional words of tiling recognizable languages.

Ceramic tiling inspection system
Construction and Building Materials, 2009Abstract This paper presents a proposal of an expert system for inspection and diagnosis of defects in adhesive ceramic wall or floor tiling (ACT), specifically developed for recent buildings. The system proposed includes a classification of the ACT defects and their most probable causes in different groups, as well as the relationship between ...

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1987
A method for refurbishing a suspended acoustical tile ceiling when the tiles become soiled comprises inserting a tile insert beneath each soiled tile to provide a new face to the suspended ceiling. The tile insert comprises a thin layer of substantially rigid material with an acoustical pattern of holes extending therethrough.
