Cytokinin oxidase/dehydrogenase family genes exhibit functional divergence and overlap in ricegrowth and development, especially in control of tillering

bioRxiv, 2021
Cytokinins play key roles in plant growth and development; hence, cytokinin biosynthesis and degradation have been extensively studied. Cytokinin oxidase/dehydrogenases (CKXs) are a group of enzymes that regulate oxidative cleavage to maintain cytokinin ...

MiR319-targeted OsTCP21 and OsGAmyb regulate tillering and grain yield in rice.

Journal of Integrative Plant Biology, 2021
Multiple genes and microRNAs (miRNAs) improve grain yield by promoting tillering. MiR319s are known to regulate several aspects of plant development; however, whether miR319s are essential for tillering regulation remains unclear.

TILLERING AND SMALL GRAIN 1 dominates the tryptophan aminotransferase family required for local auxin biosynthesis in rice.

Journal of Integrative Plant Biology, 2020
Auxin is a crucial phytohormone, controlling multiple aspects of plant growth and responses to the changing environment. However, the role of local auxin biosynthesis in specific developmental programs remains unknown in crops.

HIGH-TILLERING AND DWARF 12 regulates photosynthesis and plant architecture by affecting carotenoid biosynthesis in rice.

Journal of Experimental Botany, 2020
Photosynthesis and plant architecture are important factors influencing grain yield in rice (Oryza sativa L.). Here, we identified the high-tillering and dwarf 12 (htd12) mutant and analyzed the effects of the HTD12 mutation on these important factors ...

Hormonal regulation of tiller dynamics in differentially-tillering rice cultivars

Plant Growth Regulation, 2007
Tiller number can contribute significantly to yield potential of rice, but little knowledge is available on hormonal regulation of tillering and tiller dynamics. In the present study, Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), kinetin (6-furfuryl amino purine) and Gibberellic acid (GA3) treatments have been applied at the early tillering stage to two rice cultivars ...

Effect of management factors on tiller dynamics in tall fescue: Tiller mortality

African Journal of Range & Forage Science, 1996
The effect of plant density (row spacing/seeding rate), cultivar choice, nitrogen (N)fertilization and close-down date on tiller mortality in a dual purpose (forage and seed) tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) sward was examined over a two-year period. Cajun had a consistently lower (P < 0.01) tiller mortality than Roa in both seasons.

George R Tiller

BMJ, 2009
US doctor who provided late abortions and was murdered Dr George Tiller, one of only three US doctors who provided abortions late in pregnancy, was shot dead as he served as an usher in his church in Wichita, Kansas, on 31 May ( BMJ 2009;338:b2237, doi:10.1136/bmj.b2237).

Control of tillering in rice

Nature, 2003
Tillering in rice (Oryza sativa L.) is an important agronomic trait for grain production, and also a model system for the study of branching in monocotyledonous plants. Rice tiller is a specialized grain-bearing branch that is formed on the unelongated basal internode and grows independently of the mother stem (culm) by means of its own adventitious ...
