Indicators of weed competition on Organic Winter Wheat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Organic winter wheat production is limited by climatic and agronomic factors, including weed competition. The incidence of weeds on yield limitation can be characterized through various early indicators to predict weed occurrence and competition.

Optimizing tiller production and survival for grain yield improvement in a bread wheat × spelt mapping population [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background and Aims: Tiller production and survival determine final spike number, and play key roles in grain yield formation in wheat (Triticum aestivum).

An Engineered Living Material With Pro‐Angiogenic Activity Inducible by Near‐Infrared Light

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
NIR‐responsive engineered living materials (ELMs) for controlled angiogenesis: Near‐infrared (800 nm) light activates engineered probiotic bacteria within alginate‐based living materials to secrete a blood vessel‐regenerating protein. The released protein promotes pro‐angiogenic effects in endothelial networks and chick chorioallantoic membranes.

Magnetothermal‐Triggered Response and Self‐Healing of Recyclable and Reprocessable Nanocomposites for Actuation Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Developing recyclable materials for magnetic robotics that combine rapid response and self‐healing properties is challenging. Hence, this study focuses on the integration of magnetothermal nanoparticles into a dynamic sorbitol‐based vitrimer, a recyclable composite capable of remote actuation and self‐healing by magnetic heating.

Physiological and Proteomic Analyses of mtn1 Mutant Reveal Key Players in Centipedegrass Tiller Development

open access: yesPlants
Tillering directly determines the seed production and propagation capacity of clonal plants. However, the molecular mechanisms involved in the tiller development of clonal plants are still not fully understood.

Structural and Chemical Engineering of Sub‐Nanochannel Membranes Toward Ion Selectivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes recent advances in structural and chemical engineering of sub‐nanochannels for ion selectivity. We first introduce fundamental ion transport mechanisms within sub‐nanochannels, followed by strategies to tune pore size, geometry, and surface functionalities, categorized into charge‐based, ion‐recognition, hydrophilic bonding, and ...

Canopy architectural and physiological characterisation of near-isogenic wheat lines differing in the tiller inhibition gene tin

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2014
Tillering is a core constituent of plant architecture, and influences light interception to affect plant performance. Near-isogenic lines (NILs) varying for a tiller inhibition (tin) gene were investigated for tillering dynamics, organ size distribution,
