Suppression of Tiller Bud Activity in Tillering Dwarf Mutants of Rice [PDF]

open access: bronzePlant and Cell Physiology, 2005
In this study, we analyzed five tillering dwarf mutants that exhibit reduction of plant stature and an increase in tiller numbers. We show that, in the mutants, axillary meristems are normally established but the suppression of tiller bud activity is weakened.

Tiller Recruitment Patterns and Biennial Tiller Production in Prairie Sandreed [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Range Management, 2000
Tiller recruitment is an essential process for ensuring the perenniality of grasses. The timing and extent of tiller recruitment and the role of biennial tillers must be documented for key range species. Prairie sandreed [Calamovilfa longifolia (Hook) Scribn.] is an important grass in the Nebraska Sandhills for both ecological functioning and as a ...

Physiological basis for the differences of productive capacity among tillers in winter wheat

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2015
The quality or structure of a wheat population is significantly affected by the compositions of tillers. Little has been known about the physiological basis for the differences of productive capacity among tillers. Two winter wheat cultivars, Shannong 15

Effect of drought stress on the formation of yield elements in spring barley and the potential of stress expression reduction by foliar application of fertilizers and growth stimulator

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2004
Spring barley plants were exposed to water stress at different growth stages - from the period after emergence to the beginning of stem elongation, from emergence to the end of anthesis and from the beginning of stem elongation to the end of anthesis in ...
