Modelling of tilt rotor mission performance to assess environmental impact [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
New technologies and new rotorcraft operations are being developed in order to meet new environmental requirements such as noise reduction and less pollutant emissions. In this project a parametric study was developed over a tilt rotor model in order to

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Neuromuscular performance of balance and posture control in childhood and adolescence

open access: yesHeliyon, 2020
This study examined a potential age-dependency of both posture and stability (balance) control in children and adolescents in a healthy population. Body posture with open and closed eyes was examined for a total of 456 test persons (age 6.7–17.6 years ...

Double-tilt in situ TEM Holder with Ultra-high Stability [PDF]

open access: yesMicroscopy and Microanalysis, 2018
A double tilting holder with high stability is essential for acquiring atomic-scale information by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), but the availability of such holders for in situ TEM studies under various external stimuli is limited.

A numerical study on active control for tiltrotor whirl flutter stability augmentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The use of active control to augment whirl flutter stability of tiltrotor aircraft is studied by means of a multibody simulation. The numerical model is based on a 1/5 scale semi-span aeroelastic wind tunnel model of a generic tiltrotor concept and ...

Long-term stability of tilt-controlled gPhoneX gravimeters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
peer reviewedAbstract Spring relative gravimeters are considered too unstable to provide useful information on long-term gravity variations. In this paper, we prove that the new generation of spring gravimeter gPhoneX can reach long-term stability at the

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Analysis on controllability and stability of quad-tilt-rotor aircraft in helicopter mode

open access: yes, 2021
The controllability and stability of quad-tilt-rotor aircraft in helicopter mode are modeled and analyzed, which will provide a theoretical guidance for the subsequent control system design.

Sowing depth stability analysis and test verification of no-tillage planter parallel 4-bar row unit

open access: yesHeliyon
The sowing depth stability and consistency of the no-tillage planter, particularly the high-speed operation, are poor. A reason for this is that the structure and parameter selection of no-tillage planter row unit profiling mechanism are unreasonable ...
