Autonomic Function Responses Comparing Cold Pressor and Tilt Table Testing in a Healthy, Normotensive Population [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The autonomic nervous system regulates unconscious body functions, such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiration, and thermoregulation. Testing for autonomic dysfunction can be dangerous or costly, though it is crucial for individual wellbeing and for

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Tilt table test today - state of the art

open access: yesWorld Journal of Cardiology, 2016
A tilt table test (TTT) is an inexpensive, noninvasive tool for the differential diagnosis of syncope and orthostatic intolerance and has good diagnostic yield. The autonomic system malfunction which underlines the reflex syncope is manifested as either hypotension or bradycardia, while an orthostatic challenge is applied. The timing of the response to

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Improved Patient Outcomes by Normalizing Sympathovagal Balance: Differentiating Syncope—Precise Subtype Differentiation Leads to Improved Outcomes

open access: yesCardiology Research and Practice, 2018
Syncope is difficult to definitively diagnose, even with tilt-table testing and beat-to-beat blood pressure measurements, the gold-standard. Both are qualitative, subjective assessments.

Orthostatic and Supine Blood Pressures Are Associated with White Matter Hyperintensities in Parkinson Disease [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Movement Disorders, 2013
Background and Purpose: Several reports on the elderly population have suggested that orthostatic hypotension is associated with white matter hyperintensities (WMH); however, little information is available on patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD ...

Tilt table testing in neurology and clinical neurophysiology

open access: yesClinical Neurophysiology, 2016
Reflex syncope is responsible for 1-6% of hospital admissions and the economic burden of syncope is huge. A considerable part of these high costs is still spent on tests that are not indicated. Till now few neurologists have taken an interest in syncope and tilt table testing (TTT).

Unconfined interfacial friction of Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mats [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mats (GCCMs) are flexible, cementitious material-filled geosynthetics that harden on hydration to form thin concrete layers and are primarily used for surface erosion protection applications.

Cerebral blood flow remains reduced after tilt testing in myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome patients

open access: yesClinical Neurophysiology Practice, 2021
Objective: Orthostatic symptoms in myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) may be caused by an abnormal reduction in cerebral blood flow.
