Residual based tilt tri‐rotor UAV actuator fault detection using TSK fuzzy model
This article proposes a residual‐based fault detection algorithm to address actuator failures in tilt tri‐rotor UAVs. Using the TSK fuzzy model and kernel principal component analysis (KPCA) for enhanced accuracy, the method is validated through simulations and real flight data, achieving high accuracy and real‐time performance with a response time of ...

VTOL UAV Transition Maneuver Using Incremental Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion
The paper seeks to study the control system design of a novel unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The UAV is capable of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), transition flight and cruising via the technique of direct force control. The incremental nonlinear dynamic inversion (INDI) approach is adopted for the 6‐DOF nonlinear and nonaffine control of the UAV.

Owing to the transition flight of rotor/wing hybrid vertical take‐off and landing (VTOL) aircraft, the fuel weight cannot be estimated from empirical data during the conceptual design phase. This paper proposes a method for estimating the minimal fuel weight fraction (FWF) through a strategy of trajectory optimization under a given flight profile.

Statistical modeling to relate technology readiness to schedule
Abstract Projects from U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration and Department of Energy technology development activities provide historical data on project completion timelines versus technology readiness levels that were assessed during the life cycle of a program. A statistical analysis was performed to develop a method to forecast future
