Assessing Timber and Non-Timber Values in Forestry Using a General Equilibrium Framework

Critical Reviews in Environmental Science and Technology, 1997
Abstract Net benefits of alternative forest policies are examined using a simulation model that links a model of the biology and economics of the forest with a GE model of the B.C. economy, thereby recognizing the effects of changes in timber supply on prices.

Mechanical Behavior of Cross-Laminated Timber Panels Made of Low-Added-Value Timber

Forest Products Journal, 2019
Abstract The cross-laminated timber (CLT) construction system has recently emerged as an excellent alternative for civil construction. The objective of this work is to analyze the structural performance of CLT panels using plantation lumber, especially eucalyptus (Eucalyptus grandis) heartwood and pine (Pinus taeda).

Effects of site preparation on timber and non-timber values of loblolly pine plantations

Forest Ecology and Management, 1998
Abstract This study evaluated the timber and non-timber values of the forest stands generated by four site preparation methods tested in the Tuskegee National Forest 15 yr earlier. The timber values of the forest stands were assessed with the timber yields predicted by the SE TWIGS model.

The Value of Timber and Non-timber Forest Products

2019
In this chapter, the disparity in value between the marketable values of forests and the main alternative land-uses is discussed. This results from the low value of logs and, especially in the tropics the low proportion of commercially usable log volume. Thus the returns on investing in sustainable forest management and the establishment of plantations
