Evaluation of Cox's model and logistic regression for matched case-control data with time-dependent covariates: a simulation study

Statistics in Medicine, 2003
AbstractCase‐control studies are typically analysed using the conventional logistic model, which does not directly account for changes in the covariate values over time. Yet, many exposures may vary over time. The most natural alternative to handle such exposures would be to use the Cox model with time‐dependent covariates.

Time-dependent Cox regression: Serial measurement of the cardiovascular biomarker proadrenomedullin improves survival prediction in patients with lower respiratory tract infection

International Journal of Cardiology, 2012
The aim of this study was to determine the prognostic utility of serial measurement of the cardiovascular biomarker midregion proadrenomedullin (MR-proADM) in patients admitted with lower respiratory tract infection. In a previous trial in dyspneic patients (BACH trial) we could show that serial measurement of MR-proADM proves useful for risk ...

ASSESSING INTERACTIONS OF BINARY TIME‐DEPENDENT COVARIATES WITH TIME IN COX PROPORTIONAL HAZARDS REGRESSION MODELS USING CUBIC SPLINE FUNCTIONS

open access: closedStatistics in Medicine, 1996
The Cox proportional hazards model is the most popular model for the analysis of survival data. Time-dependent covariates can be included in a straightforward manner. In most cases such covariates will be binary, indicating some form of changing group membership, with individuals starting in group 0, and changing into group 1 after the occurrence of a ...

2283-PUB: Metformin Treatment and Prostate Cancer Risk: Cox Regression Analysis with Time-Dependent Covariates of 150,000 Men with Incident Diabetes Mellitus

open access: closedDiabetes, 2020
Background: There is conflicting evidence regarding the association between metformin use and prostate cancer risk in diabetic men. Objective: We investigated the association of metformin treatment, as a time dependent exposure, with prostate cancer incidence, in a population-based cohort of T2D incident men, while accounting for major ...

Low disease activity (DAS28≤3.2) reduces the risk of first cardiovascular event in rheumatoid arthritis: a time-dependent Cox regression analysis in a large cohort study

Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, 2017
Systemic inflammation appears to contribute to the excess risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of different levels of disease activity over time, particularly low disease activity and remission, on CVD risk in patients with RA.Data from the Nijmegen early RA ...

[Quality of life as a time-dependent covariable in cox regression analysis and its application].

Zhonghua yu fang yi xue za zhi [Chinese journal of preventive medicine], 2004
To present a statistical method for combined evaluation of the quality of life and survival time and to study some issues in its application.Based on Cox regression model, quality of life was used as a time-dependent covariable in analysis of the influence factors for the effectiveness of detoxification in 212 drug addicts. The influence factors entered

Pattern of Metastasis as a Risk Factor for Brain Metastasis in Patients With Breast Cancer: A Time‐Dependent Cox Regression

Asia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology
ABSTRACT Aim Brain metastasis is associated with poor prognosis in patients with breast cancer. Conventional predictive models rely on fixed baseline characteristics and provide limited clinical utility.

Using cox regression model with time dependent explanatory variable for survival analysis of common sole, Solea solea L.

open access: closed, 2011
In this study, Cox regression models for fixed and time dependent explanatory variables were studied for Solea solea under culture conditions. The data of wild common sole (Solea solea) was obtained from fish population maintained under culture conditions.

Updating prognosis of cirrhosis by Cox's regression model using Child-Pugh score and aminopyrine breath test as time-dependent covariates.

Italian journal of gastroenterology and hepatology, 1998
The determination of aminopyrine breath test on entry into the study was recently shown to improve the accuracy of prediction of death based on the Child-Pugh classification, but the possible usefulness of serial determinations of both parameters has not been assessed.
