A Method for Locating Partial Discharge in Transformer Based on the Optical and Electric Collaborative Acoustic Sensing Technology

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement &Technology, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
To address the issues of insufficient localization accuracy with two‐dimensional sensor arrays and excessive spatial occupancy with three‐dimensional arrays, this paper proposes a transformer partial discharge localization method based on optical and electric collaborative acoustic sensing technology.

Reflection-Aware Sound Source Localization

open access: yes, 2017
We present a novel, reflection-aware method for 3D sound localization in indoor environments. Unlike prior approaches, which are mainly based on continuous sound signals from a stationary source, our formulation is designed to localize the position ...

Seismo‐Acoustic Detection and Localization of Iceberg Collapse in Atka Bay, Antarctica

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 23, 16 December 2025.
Abstract On 12 January 2022, an iceberg collapsed at the edge of frozen Atka Bay, Antarctica. The event generated seismic, hydroacoustic, and atmospheric infrasound waves recorded by a local network comprising land‐ and iceshelf‐based seismometers, an underwater hydrophone, and an on‐ice infrasound array.

The influences of environmental conditions on source localisation using a single vertical array and their exploitation through ground effect inversion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The performance of microphone arrays outdoors is influenced by the environmental conditions. Numerical simulations indicate that, while horizontal arrays are hardly affected, direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation with vertical arrays becomes biased in ...
