Time History Analysis of Steel Tall Buildings

The primary purpose of the study was the direct comparison of the effects of the wind loads on the steel tall buildings.

Successive extrema of the sample are ordered by decreasing magnitude and used to update the distribution of the maximum likelihood of the peak factor.

In fact, this time step might be much smaller than the time step needed for accurate representation of the impulse and negligible period distortion.

International Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics, 2012Discontinuity at the end of an impulse will lead to an amplitude distortion in a time history analysis. This amplitude distortion can be effectively reduced, if a very small time step is used to perform a complete step-by-step integration procedure. As a result, a lot of computational effort is involved.

Improved Explicit Method for Time History Analysis
Volume 8: Seismic Engineering, 2007In this paper, an explicit integration method is presented. This method is shown to have the same numerical characteristics as those of the constant average acceleration method for a linear elastic system. This implies that it is unconditionally stable for linear elastic systems.
