Production of Secondary Organic Aerosol During Aging of Biomass Burning Smoke From Fresh Fuels and Its Relationship to VOC Precursors [PDF]
After smoke from burning biomass is emitted into the atmosphere, chemical and physical processes change the composition and amount of organic aerosol present in the aged, diluted plume. During the fourth Fire Lab at Missoula Experiment, we performed smog-

Interplay Between Phase Evolution, Fe Migration, and Oxygen Redox in O3‐Type NaxFeyMn1−yO2 Cathodes
Why do Na‐ion battery cathodes, that are compositionally closely related, follow different structural paths during battery operation? This work shows how Fe content controls when iron atoms migrate from their original sites. Early migration locks the layers and blocks key phase transitions, whereas delayed migration permits fuller structural ...

Diamondoid diacids ('O4' species) in oil sands process-affected water. [PDF]
RATIONALE: As a by-product of oil sands extraction, large volumes of oil sands process water (OSPW) are generated, which are contaminated with a large range of water-soluble organic compounds.

Backbone modulation in glycolated conjugated polymers governs ion accessibility to side chains, strengthes anion adsorption, and suppresses back‐diffusion. As the number of thiophene units increases, structural reorganization, retention, and synaptic plasticity are enhanced, leading to improved neuromorphic performance in electrolyte‐gated organic ...

Fluorene‐functionalized spiro‐phenothiazine (PTZ‐Fl) exhibits strong Li+ affinity and thermal stability, enabling a PCE of 25.75% in small‐area cells and 22.07% in 25 cm2 modules. Under ISOS‐L3 conditions, PTZ‐Flbased devices retain over 80% efficiency after 1000 hours, demonstrating superior stability and scalability compared to spiro‐OMeTAD for next ...

Microscope imaging by time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry [PDF]
The concept of Secondary Ion Microscopy, introduced by Castaing et al. [1], is applied to a direct imaging time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometer. The ion optical configuration for a particular [2] stigmatic imaging TOF mass spectrometer is reviewed. A number of fundamental factors influencing the mass resolution in any TOF spectrometer are discussed ...

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

This table of contents illustrates that the mechanism for mitigating Sr segregation depends strongly on the chemistry of the coating layer. HfO2 electrostatically stabilizes the surface by lowering the surface oxygen vacancies, which serve as the driving force for Sr migration. On the other hand, Al2O3 and Fe2O3 react with segregated Sr to form Sr‐Al‐O
