We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Insights into a long life without cancer: The case of the bowhead whale
Long‐lived, large‐bodied organisms have evolved powerful anticancer mechanisms that preserve cellular and tissue integrity across extended lifespans. A recent study by Firsanov et al. shows that greater genome stability is a key factor underlying the remarkable longevity and cancer resistance of one such species, the bowhead whale.

Modelling treatment, age- and gender-specific recovery in acute injury studies [PDF]
Background: Acute injury studies often measure physical ability repeatedly over time through scores that have a finite range. This can result in a faster score change at the beginning of the study than towards the end, motivating the investigation of ...

Effects of kinesiology taping timing on recovery in the lower limbs
BackgroundKinesiology taping (KT) is widely used to support muscle function and recovery, but its optimal application timing remains unclear. While some suggest pre-exercise KT provides protective benefits, others propose post-exercise KT aids recovery.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Pathogenesis of feline enteric coronavirus infection. [PDF]
Fifty-one specific pathogen-free (SPF) cats 10 weeks to 13 years of age were infected with a cat-to-cat fecal-oral passed strain of feline enteric coronavirus (FECV). Clinical signs ranged from unapparent to a mild and self-limiting diarrhea. Twenty-nine

Are drug therapies effective in treating Bell's palsy? [PDF]
Early use of corticosteroid therapy results in less autonomic synkinesis and possibly improved rates of recovery in adults (strength of recommendation: C); there is no proven benefit in children (SOR: B).
