Finite element based surface roughness study for ohmic contact of microswitches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Finite element method (FEM) is used to model ohmic contact in microswitches. A determinist approach is adopted, including atomic force microscope (AFM) scanning real contact surfaces and generating rough surfaces with three-dimensional mesh.

Analytical algorithm for time-varying meshing stiffness of modified herringbone gear pair

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao/Journal of Northwestern Polytechnical University, 2022
This paper jointly uses the slicing method and the potential energy method to propose an analytical algorithm that considers the meshing stiffness of the modified herringbone gear pair and its axial force. The calculation results are compared with the finite element and ISO calculation results to verify the accuracy of the analytical algorithm.

Modelling of Elastic Gearboxes Using a Generalized Gear Contact Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The object of this paper is to present an universal model that describes the gear contact between two gears in a planar environment. The model includes elastic effects between the gear wheels.

Pitting damage levels estimation for planetary gear sets based on model simulation and grey relational analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The planetary gearbox is a critical mechanism in helicopter transmission systems. Tooth failures in planetary gear sets will cause great risk to helicopter operations.

Optimization of bias modification and dynamic behavior analysis of helical gear system

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
A generalized finite element dynamic model of helical gear system considering time-varying mesh stiffness and loaded composite mesh error is developed. Bias modification is introduced into this model, and the corresponding time-varying mesh stiffness and

Research on the Influence of Backlash on Mesh Stiffness and the Nonlinear Dynamics of Spur Gears

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
In light of ignoring the effect of backlash on mesh stiffness in existing gear dynamic theory, a precise profile equation was established based on the generating processing principle. An improved potential energy method was proposed to calculate the mesh

Strategies for using cellular automata to locate constrained layer damping on vibrating structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
It is often hard to optimise constrained layer damping (CLD) for structures more complicated than simple beams and plates as its performance depends on its location, the shape of the applied patch, the mode shapes of the structure and the material ...

Analytical Model of Gear Thermal Stiffness Based on the Potential Energy Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Stiffness is the main internal excitation of gear system vibration and is the basis for studying the static and dynamic characteristics of the system. Based on the relationship between thermal stress and strain in plane strain theory and combined with ...

Determination of Mesh Stiffness of Gear—Analytical Approach vs. FEM Analysis

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
This paper focuses on modeling the time-varying stiffness of spur gearings, which in dynamic models of transmission systems acts as an important element of the internal excitation of the dynamic system.
