Generalized Analysis of Elastic Wave Dispersion Asymmetries in Moving Periodic Media

open access: yes, 2018
This work presents a generalized physical interpretation of unconventional dispersion asymmetries associated moving elastic solids. By shifting the notion from systems with time-variant material fields to physically traveling materials, the newly adopted

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Nonlinear Passive Observer for Motion Estimation in Multi-Axis Precision Motion Control

open access: yesMachines
A nonlinear passive observer (NPO) for estimating the time-varying velocity vector of a multi-axis high-precision motion control stage is presented. The proposed nonlinear estimation strategy is developed based on a Lyapunov stability analysis, which ...

Wave-packet dynamics in slowly perturbed crystals: Gradient corrections and Berry-phase effects

open access: yes, 1999
We present a unified theory for wave-packet dynamics of electrons in crystals subject to perturbations varying slowly in space and time. We derive the wave-packet energy up to the first order gradient correction and obtain all kinds of Berry-phase terms ...

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Optimal Control-Based Algorithm Design and Application for Trajectory Tracking of a Mobile Robot with Four Independently Steered and Four Independently Actuated Wheels

open access: yesActuators
This paper deals with the synthesis and implementation of a controller for asymptotic tracking of the desired trajectory of a mobile robot. The mobile robot used for the experimental validation has eight motors with an inner control loop.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

High Repetition-Rate Wakefield Electron Source Generated by Few-millijoule, 30 femtosecond Laser Pulses on a Density Downramp

open access: yes, 2012
We report on an experimental demonstration of laser wakefield electron acceleration using a sub-TW power laser by tightly focusing 30-fs laser pulses with only 8 mJ pulse energy on a 100 \mu m scale gas target.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
