Ferromagnetic Interlayer Exchange Coupling in Magnetic Topological Insulator Sandwich Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A thin topological insulator (Bi2Te3) inserted between two single magnetic septuple layers of MnBi2Te4 is shown to convert the intrinsic antiferromagnetic interlayer coupling into robust ferromagnetism. As the Bi2Te3 spacer thickness increases from 1 to 4 quintuple layers, the weakening coercivity, Curie temperature, and interlayer coupling reveal ...

How Can the Optical Variation Properties of Active Galactic Nuclei Be Unbiasedly Measured?

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The variability of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) is ubiquitous, but has not yet been understood. Measuring the optical variation properties of AGNs, such as the variation timescale and amplitude, and then correlating them with their fundamental physical ...

Alkylthienyl Side Groups in Conjugated Polymers Enable Localization of π Electron Density and Facilitate Efficient Hole Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Resonance Raman spectroscopy is used in combination with other spectroscopic and morphology characterization techniques to unveil the mechanistic origin of the shift in synthetic strategy to alkylthienyl peripheral groups for high‐performing organic photovoltaics.

Imperfection in Semiconductors Leading to High Performance Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Crystalline perfection is typically pursued in semiconductors to enhance device performance. However, through modeling and experimental work, we show that defects can be strategically employed in a specific detection regime to increase sensitivity to extreme values. GaN diodes are demonstrated to effectively detect high‐energy proton beams at fluxes as

No Evidence for Accretion around the Intermediate-mass Black Hole in Omega Centauri

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
For over a decade, both theoretical predictions and observational studies have suggested that ω Centauri ( ω Cen), the most massive Milky Way globular cluster, might harbor an intermediate-mass black hole (IMBH).

6U CubeSat for Ultraviolet Time-Domain Astronomy

open access: yes, 2019
A wide-field ultraviolet observatory for time-domain astronomy utilizing 6U CubeSat is presented. Ultraviolet waveband is one of the unexplored fields in astronomy. Potential targets are short duration transient sources in UV-band: early-phase emission from gravitational wave sources, supernovae shock-breakouts, tidal disruption events around super ...

Wafer‐Scale Room‐Temperature Processing of Lead‐Free Perovskites for Optoelectronic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present the first wafer‐scale, room‐temperature synthesis of lead‐free Cs3Sb2X9 (X = Br, I) perovskite films via solvent‐free magnetron sputtering. The resulting high‐performance photodetectors achieve benchmark responsivity, bandwidth, and detectivity, enabling scalable manufacturing for next‐generation optoelectronics.

What can Joint Survey Processing Do For Time-Domain Astronomy?

open access: yes, 2022
Joint Survey Processing (JSP) is the pixel level combination of ground- and space-based datasets. It is particularly important for mitigating source confusion which affects 50% of the sources in deep seeing-limited datasets such as those that will be taken by Rubin/LSST.
