Timing the Factor Zoo

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2023
We provide a comprehensive analysis of the timing success for equity risk factors. Our analysis covers over 300 risk factors (factor zoo) and a high dimensional set of predictors. The performance of almost all groups of factors can be improved through timing, with improvements being highest for profitability and value factors.

The Time Factor in Anesthesia

Diseases of the Chest, 1955
Light anesthesia with the common anesthetic agents does not significantly interfere with the homeostatic mechanisms, nor does it depress the myocardium. The same is true for adequate amounts of muscle relaxant agents. Problems of respiratory physiology and blood replacement are well understood. Thus, practically limitless operating time can be afforded

Factors Timing Factors

The Journal of Portfolio Management, 2017
It is common practice to refer to a factor premium’s current valuation when assessing its attractiveness—in effect using a single-value-factor model to gauge whether the factor is rich, fairly valued, or cheap. Meanwhile, studies have investigated how some factor premia are exposed to other factor premia in order to characterize their behavior over ...

Defensive Factor Timing

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2018
In this article, the authors define defensive factor timing as proactively using market signals—measures of aggregate risk tolerance, the effectiveness of diversification, and valuation measures—to reduce exposures to individual factors or a portfolio of factors when outlooks are unattractive.

The Impact Factor: time for change

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry, 2001
Objective: The Impact Factor (IF) has received virtually no attention in the psychiatric literature, despite its long-term use, expanding influence and evidence of misapplication. We examine the IF's validity as a measure of a paper's scientific worth, and consider alternative ways to conduct such an appraisal.

The Time Factor

1983
The pre-calculation methods dealt with in the preceding sections are based on the final state of ground movement over a single extraction area. In coal-mining this movement process can be regarded as complete 6 months to 5 years after the halting of operations, but in room-and-pillar working in, say, potash or other ore mining it may not be complete ...

THE TIME FACTOR

Journal of the Textile Institute Transactions, 1924
Abstract In order to study the elastic properties of cotton, it is recognised that there is a need for preliminary investigations into the effect of varying the time of application of stresses to the material. The present research deals with the changes in dimensions of single cotton hairs under longitudinal stresses in their relation to the time of ...

The Timing Factor in the Consent Process

Journal of Transplant Coordination, 1996
Organ procurement organizations have been educating the medical profession on the importance of timing during the donation request process. Separating the request for donation from the notification of death has been encouraged when approaching families for consent for organ donation.

Time as a factor

1990
As in physics, chemistry, and biology, it is common also in soil science to study changes with time as the independent variable, or x axis in a graphical representation. These kinds of relationships are called chrono-functions. Some processes of soil formation, such as podzolization, are simple and rapid enough to be studied by means of laboratory ...

The Time Factor

1982
In appraising any investment proposal one compares the costs of the investment with the returns expected. What complicates this process of evaluation is the fact that there is a time-lag between the cash outflows and inflows. Time is of the essence in any investment problem and thus a scientific appraisal would require the introduction of compensations
