Nonlinear time-history earthquake analysis for steel frames [PDF]
This study presents a simple, efficient, accurate method for nonlinear time-history earthquake analysis of spatial steel frames. The proposed new fiber plastic hinge method simulating only one element for each member captures the time-history dynamic behavior of steel frames as accurately as sophisticated plastic zone methods.

Nonlinear analysis of a hoist tower for seismic loads [PDF]
In recent years, the intensity of the loads caused by mining activity has increased in Poland. This exploitation is often carried out in urbanized areas, so their operation on structures is not only a social problem, but also a challenge for engineers ...

Seismic Performance and Optimization Design of a Post-Installed Elevator Shear Wall Structure
Post-installed elevator projects have grown significantly in recent years in response to the problem of insufficient vertical traffic capacity in existing buildings, but research on the seismic performance of post-installed elevator structures has been ...

The adequacy of the separation gap between the adjacent structural frames considering the effects of structure-soil-structure- interaction and using particle swarm optimization algorithm [PDF]
Since, generally, in high population areas and large cities for maximum use of land, buildings are constructed without distances or with insufficient distance, thus, during severe earthquakes, due to unbalanced vibration of the structure Adjacent bodies (

Conceptualizing Time Preference: A Life-History Analysis [PDF]
Life-history theory (LHT) has drawn upon the concept of “time preference” as a psychological mechanism for the development of fast and slow strategies. However, the conceptual and empirical nature of this mechanism is ill-defined. This study compared four traits commonly used as measures of “time preference” (impulsivity, sensation seeking, future ...

Evaluation of effect of tuned liquid dampers and modified tuned liquid dampers on seismic response of steel moment resisting frames [PDF]
Severe damages of structures during large earthquakes and the loss of national wealth has made it extremely important to reduce the vibrations of structures against wind and earthquake.

Modeling and Seismic Analysis of Buildings with Water Tanks on their Roof [PDF]
Abstract  The existence of containers on buildings in large cities with high earthquake risk has caused many damaging problems during past earthquakes. In addition to financial losses, it might induce uncontrolled fire, water cut and local or global
