Study on vibration response characteristics of kilometre deep shaft induced by frozen soil blasting in ultra deep alluvium

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu, 2022
With the increasing demand for underground resources in China, the construction of ultra-deep shafts is becoming more and more popular. In order to stabilize the shaft wall and reduce the collapse of the shaft wall during the shaft excavation, the ...

On the basic mechanism of Pixelized Photon Detectors

open access: yes, 2008
A Pixelized Photon Detector (PPD) is a generic name for the semiconductor devices operated in the Geiger-mode, such as Silicon PhotoMultiplier and Multi-Pixel Photon Counter, which has high photon counting capability. While the internal mechanisms of the

Photoconductivity‐Driven Quantum Efficiency Gain in Inorganic Ruddlesden‐Popper Layered Cs2PbBr2I2 Perovskite Photodetector for Visible Light Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rational halogen mixing strategy was employed to shift the bandgap of Cs2PbBr2I2 from ultraviolet to visible region, enabling first realization of a visible‐light photodetector with this 2D layered Ruddlesden‐Popper perovskite material. Under illumination, light‐induced internal field forms and drives trap‐mediated persistent photoconductivity ...

Characterization of moderate ash‐and‐gas explosions at Santiaguito volcano, Guatemala, from infrasound waveform inversion and thermal infrared measurements

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2016
The rapid discharge of gas and rock fragments during volcanic eruptions generates acoustic infrasound. Here we present results from the inversion of infrasound signals associated with small and moderate gas‐and‐ash explosions at Santiaguito volcano ...

Broadband, Flexible, Skin‐Compatible Carbon Dots/Graphene Photodetectors for Wearable Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Broadband, flexible photodetectors integrating nitrogen‐rich carbon dots with single‐layer graphene on plastic substrates are demonstrated. A biocompatible chitosan–glycerol electrolyte enables efficient low‐voltage gating and on‐skin operation. The devices exhibit ultraviolet‐to‐near‐infrared response, mechanical robustness under bending, and verified

Gravitational wave emission from binary supermassive black holes

open access: yes, 2013
Massive black hole binaries (MBHBs) are unavoidable outcomes of the hierarchical structure formation process, and according to the theory of general relativity are expected to be the loudest gravitational wave (GW) sources in the Universe.

Principal component analysis of atrial fibrillation: Inclusion of posterior ECG leads does not improve correlation with left atrial activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background Lead V? is routinely analysed due to its large amplitude AF waveform. V? correlates strongly with right atrial activity but only moderately with left atrial activity. Posterior lead V? correlates strongest with left atrial activity.

Coherent Control of Nitrogen Nuclear Spins via the VB−${\rm V}_B^-$‐Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates coherent control of 15N nuclear spins coupled to VB−${\text{V}}_{\text{B}}^{-}$ centers in isotope‐enriched hexagonal boron nitride. Selective addressing via spin‐state mixing enables Rabi driving, quantum gates, and coherence times exceeding 10 μs$\umu{\rm s}$.

Attenuation Characteristics of Tuned Mass Dampers and Particle Tuned Mass Dampers in SDOF and MDOF Structures: Experimental Investigation and Simulation Analysis

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering
This research article investigates the attenuation characteristics of passive control devices, viz., particle tuned mass damper (PTMD) and tuned mass damper (TMD) are used for a single degree of freedom (SDOF) and multidegree of freedom (MDOF) structure.
