Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Distance Error Correction in Time-of-Flight Cameras Using Asynchronous Integration Time

open access: yesSensors, 2020
A distance map captured using a time-of-flight (ToF) depth sensor has fundamental problems, such as ambiguous depth information in shiny or dark surfaces, optical noise, and mismatched boundaries.

Integrating Time and Resource into Circus

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science, 2005
AbstractIn this paper, a formal model is introduced for reasoning about resource allocation and scheduling in real-time systems. We extend the concurrent refinement language Circus [Woodcock, J.C.P. and A.L.C. Cavalcanti, The semantics of Circus, in: ZB2002(LNCS 2272) (2002), pp.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

A practical way to apply a technique that accelerates time history analysis of structures under digitised excitations

open access: yesActa Polytechnica
Time history analysis using direct time integration is a versatile and widely accepted tool for analysing the dynamic behaviour of structures. In 2008, a technique was proposed to accelerate the time history analysis of structural systems subjected to ...

Integrating somatosensory information over time [PDF]

open access: yesNeuroscience, 2019
Abstract Our choices are often informed by temporally integrating streams of sensory information. This has been well demonstrated in the visual and auditory domains, but the integration of tactile information over time has been less studied. We designed an active touch task in which subjects explored a spheroid-shaped

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Analytical Sensitivity Analysis of Dynamic Problems with Direct Differentiation of Generalized-α Time Integration

open access: yesMachines
In this paper, the direct differentiation of generalized-α time integration is derived, equations are introduced and results are shown. Although generalized-α time integration has found usage, the derivation and the resulting equations for the analytical

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
