We introduce a new structured channel impulse response (CIR) estimation method for sparse multipath channels where we demonstrate a robust way of restoring the pulse shape into the composite CIR. We call this novel CIR estimation method time-of-arrival based blended least squares (TOA-BLS) which uses symbol rate sampled signals, and it is based on ...

Proceedings of the IEEE 1991 National Aerospace and Electronics Conference NAECON 1991, 2002
A method used for estimation of the position of a moving pulse emitter with constant pulse repeat interval by a single observer is studied. The performance of the estimator depends on the emitter trajectory. A specific trajectory that is symmetrical about the closest point of approach is considered.

In this paper we introduce a new structured channel impulse response (CIR) estimation method for sparse multipath channels. We call this novel CIR estimation method Time-Of-Arrival based Blended Least Squares (TOA-BLS) which uses symbol rate sampled signals, based on blending the least squares based channel estimation and the correlation and cleaning

Channel estimation is vital for implementing schemes such as coherent detection and adaptive bit loading, which make OFDM an attractive PHY layer technology for vehicular wireless communications. However, knowledge of the exact time of arrival (TOA) information of the multi-path components of the vehicular wireless channel is required to achieve ...

Proceedings of the 2002 IEEE Radar Conference (IEEE Cat. No.02CH37322), 2003
This paper proposes the time space MUSIC technique using the chirp pulse signal of a tracking radar. Direction/time of arrival (D/TOA) estimation characteristics are evaluated for the simulated point sources, simulated extended air targets, and the actual extended air targets.

Frequency Domain Joint TOA and DOA Estimation in IR-UWB
This paper addresses the problem of TOA and DOA estimation in IR-UWB systems. It considers a frequency domain approach for joint high resolution estimation of Time Of Arrival (TOA) and Direction Of Arrival (DOA).

An underwater sensor network localization algorithm based on Time-of-Arrivals (TOAs)
2013 Ninth International Conference on Natural Computation (ICNC), 2013The underwater sensor network localization algorithm is one of the very important steps in the underwater sensor network initialization process. Due to the deployment of environmental constraints, the underwater sensor node can only be indirectly localized by calculation.

Geometric optimization of a time-of-arrival (TOA) based self-positioning terrestrial system
2011 IEEE International Conference on Microwaves, Communications, Antennas and Electronic Systems (COMCAS 2011), 2011This work investigates geometric optimization of antenna configuration in lateral geometry for a terrestrial time-of-arrival based self-positioning system, considering optimization confronted by two competing and opposing phenomena, the purely geometric analogy of GPS geometric dilution of precision, and tracking errors in correlation of the ...
