Time in a bottle. A psychophysics study of human time perception through aging [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Time perception is crucial for a coherent human experience. As life progresses, our perception of the passage of time becomes increasingly non-uniform, often feeling as though it accelerates with age. While various causes for this phenomenon have been theorized, a comprehensive mathematical and theoretical framework remains underexplored.

A Case‐Based Reasoning Approach to Model Manufacturing Constraints for Impact Extrusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid modeling approach is presented that combines constraint‐based process modeling and case‐based reasoning. The model formalizes manufacturing constraints and integrates simulation data to model complex manufacturing processes. The approach supports manufacturability analysis during product design through an adaptive modeling environment.

Dynamic Fairness Perceptions in Human-Robot Interaction [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
People deeply care about how fairly they are treated by robots. The established paradigm for probing fairness in Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) involves measuring the perception of the fairness of a robot at the conclusion of an interaction. However, such an approach is limited as interactions vary over time, potentially causing changes in fairness ...

Constraints of Perception and Cognition in Relativistic Physics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2005
This article explores the constraints of perception and cognition in relativistic physics. Describing reality as a cognitive representation of our sensory inputs, the article shows how the limitations in perception translate to the properties of space and time in physics.

Predicting Dyslexia Based on Pre-reading Auditory and Speech Perception Skills [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Purpose: This longitudinal study examines measures of temporal auditory processing in pre-reading children with a family risk of dyslexia. Specifically, it attempts to ascertain whether pre-reading auditory processing, speech perception, and ...

Adjustable Plasmonic Core–Shell Nanoparticles for Personalized Color Vision Correction

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a personalized solution for correcting color vision deficiency (CVD) by embedding tunable core‐shell metal nanoparticles—a common nanotechnology—into contact lenses. By customizing the nanoparticles’ optical properties to filter specific wavelengths, these lenses address individual visual impairments, enhancing color ...
