Using modern time series analysis techniques to predict ENSO events from the SOI time series [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 2002
We analyze the monthly 1866-2000 Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) data to determine: 1) whether the SOI data are sufficiently noise-free that useful predictions can be made from them, and 2) in particular, whether future ENSO events can be predicted

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Measures of Analysis of Time Series (MATS): A MATLAB Toolkit for Computation of Multiple Measures on Time Series Data Bases [PDF]

open access: yes
In many applications, such as physiology and finance, large time series data bases are to be analyzed requiring the computation of linear, nonlinear and other measures.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Symbolic Time Series Analysis in Economics [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper I describe and apply the methods of Symbolic Time Series Analysis (STSA) to an experimental framework. The idea behind Symbolic Time Series Analysis is simple: the values of a given time series data are transformed into a finite set of ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

IMPLICATIONS OF DEFLATING COMMODITY PRICES FOR TIME-SERIES ANALYSIS [PDF]

open access: yes
The choice of deflators of commodity prices can change the time-series properties of the original series. This is a specific application of the general phenomenon that various kinds of data transformations can create spurious cycles that did not exist in

ESTSS—energy system time series suite: a declustered, application-independent, semi-artificial load profile benchmark set

open access: yesEnergy Informatics
This paper introduces an univariate application-independent set of load profiles or time series derived from real-world energy system data. The generation involved a two-step process: manifolding the initial dataset through signal processors to increase ...

Classification and Characterization of Vegetation Dynamics in Northeastern Mexico from 25-Year EVI Time Series

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Vegetation indices are used to analyze vegetation dynamics and primary productivity. However, most studies rely on short time series and peak or integral metrics, which limit the understanding of long-term vegetation dynamics in heterogeneous areas. This

Multiscale entropy analysis of electroseismic time series [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2008
In this work we use the multiscale entropy method to analyse the variability of geo-electric time series monitored in two sites located in Mexico. In our analysis we consider a period of time from January 1995 to December 1995.
