Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Inspiratory Loading Intensity Does Not Influence Lactate Clearance during Recovery

open access: yes, 2012
Purpose: This study examined the effects of different pressure threshold inspiratory loads on lactate clearance and plasma acid–base balance during recovery from maximal exercise. Methods: Eight moderately trained males (V·O2peak = 4.29 ± 0.46 L·min-1)

Real-Time Sensor Anomaly Detection and Recovery in Connected Automated Vehicle Sensors [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE transactions on intelligent transportation systems (Print), 2019
In this paper we propose a novel observer-based method to improve the safety and security of connected and automated vehicle (CAV) transportation. The proposed method combines model-based signal filtering and anomaly detection methods.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Identifying Post-Fire Recovery Trajectories and Driving Factors Using Landsat Time Series in Fire-Prone Mediterranean Pine Forests

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
Wildfires constitute the most important natural disturbance of Mediterranean forests, driving vegetation dynamics. Although Mediterranean species have developed ecological post-fire recovery strategies, the impacts of climate change and changes in fire ...
