Diamond Detectors for Timing Measurements in High Energy Physics
Timing detectors are a well-established part of High Energy Physics experimental instrumentation. The choice of sensors with fast (less than 10 ns) and precise (better than 100 ps) signals, together with radiation resistance considerations, are an ...

LGAD and 3D as timing detectors [PDF]
In view of the High Luminosity upgrade of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC), radiation tolerant silicon sensors are being developed in the framework of ATLAS, CMS, RD50 and other sensor R\&D projects. The HL-LHC beam parameters and hardware configuration should enable the collider to reach a peak instantaneous luminosity of $5\times10^{34}\textrm{

Fast Timing Methods for Semiconductor Detectors [PDF]
This tutorial paper discusses the basic parameters which determine the accuracy of timing measurements and their effect in a practical application, specifically timing with thin-surface barrier detectors. The discussion focusses on properties of the detector, low-noise amplifiers, trigger circuits and time converters.

Time Resolution of an Irradiated 3D Silicon Pixel Detector
We report on the measurements of time resolution for double-sided 3D pixel sensors with a single cell of 50 μm × 50 μm and thickness of 285 μm, fabricated at IMB-CNM and irradiated with reactor neutrons from 8 ×1014 1MeV neq/cm2 to 1.0 ×1016 1MeV neq/cm2.

Timing in thick silicon detectors—An update [PDF]
Thick silicon detectors are becoming widely used with reliable detectors available. They are often considered as a part of coincidence setup, where the timing resolution is of a crucial importance. Since over-biasing of thick detectors is sometimes unpractical, the timing resolution can be compromised in thick detectors.

Precision Timing with the CMS MIP Timing Detector [PDF]
The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is undergoing an extensive Phase II upgrade program to prepare for the challenging conditions of the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). In particular, a new timing layer will measure minimum ionizing particles (MIPs) with a time resolution of $\sim30\,\textrm{ps}$ and ...
