Network Stratification Method by Travel Time Variation

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2011
There is a need for fair and statistically valid assessments of traveler information data services. For measurement of the accuracy of a traveler information service, ground truth data must be collected and compared with the data service being evaluated.

Accurate Real-Time Disparity Estimation with Variational Methods

2009
Estimating the disparity field between two stereo images is a common task in computer vision, e.g., to determine a dense depth map. Variational methods currently are among the most accurate techniques for dense disparity map reconstruction. In this paper a multi-level adaptive technique is combined with a multigrid approach that allows the variational ...

Time-Dependent Perturbation-Variation Method. II

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1964
It is shown that the time-dependent perturbation-variation method recently developed by the author and that previously developed by Karplus and Kolker are equivalent.

Time-Dependent Perturbation—Variation Method

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1963
Through the use of the time-ordered perturbation expansion, an operator equation for the time-dependent perturbation problem, of the same form as occurs in the time-independent problem, is generated. Thus, a variational method can be used to study the time-dependent case as well as the time-independent case.

Performance Analysis Method under Time-Space Variations

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
With shrinking process size, many variations have a growing impact on circuit performance for today’s integrated circuit(IC) technologies. In this paper, we describe a high-order model of circuit performance analysis under time-space variations. The time-space variations, such as process variations, place and route imformance, environment parameters ...

Time-Independent Perturbation Theory and Variational Method

1991
It is often the case in the applications of QM that the eigenstates and eigenvalues corresponding to the bound states of a Hamiltonian H are too complicated to be obtained exactly. We will discuss two different procedures to obtain approximate solutions to these problems: Time-independent perturbation theory, and variational method.

Nuclear rotations studied by the time-dependent variational method

Nuclear Physics A, 1981
Abstract A general nuclear rotation including precession and wobbling motion is studied by the time-dependent variational method and a classical equation of motion is derived. The intrinsic wave function associated with the general rotational motion is constructed by making use of the constrained Hartree-Fock method and variables necessary in solving

Variation-perturbation method in time-dependent density-functional theory

Physics Letters A, 1997
Abstract We develop the variation-perturbation approach for periodic time-dependent perturbations within the Kohn-Sham method of density-functional theory. Our formulation parallels a similar formulation developed by Gonze for static perturbations. The theory is demonstrated by calculating the dynamic polarizability and hyperpolarizability for the ...

Time-dependent billiards, variational method, and invariant tori

Nonlinearity
Abstract In this work, we study the dynamics of two-dimensional convex billiards with time-periodically perturbed boundaries. Due to the non-conservation of the particle’s energy, the billiard map becomes a four-dimensional twist map. Rather than analyzing this high-dimensional twist map directly, we develop a novel variational approach ...

Variational Method for the Time-Dependent Dirac Equation

1983
The variational method is explained and applied to the time-dependent Dirac equation. As an example we analyse the dynamics of inner-shell electrons during a heavy ion collision. Time-dependent electron trajectories are used to study electron excitation. The classical correspondence is pointed out.
