Predictive coding and stochastic resonance as fundamental principles of auditory perception [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
How is information processed in the brain during perception? Mechanistic insight is achieved only when experiments are employed to test formal or computational models. In analogy to lesion studies, phantom perception may serve as a vehicle to understand the fundamental processing principles underlying auditory perception.

Tinnitus Does Not Interfere with Auditory and Speech Perception

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience, 2020
Tinnitus is a sound heard by 15% of the general population in the absence of any external sound. Because external sounds can sometimes mask tinnitus, tinnitus is assumed to affect the perception of external sounds, leading to hypotheses such as “tinnitus

Nap-induced modulations of tinnitus -a cross-sectional database analysis [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2024, 14 (1), pp.20111
The influence of naps on tinnitus was systematically assessed by exploring the frequency, clinical and demographic characteristics of this phenomenon. 9,724 data from two different tinnitus databases (Tinnitus Hub: $n = 6115$; Tinnitus Research Initiative (TRI): $n = 3627$) were included.

Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) for tinnitus [PDF]

open access: yesCochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2008
Tinnitus is described as the perception of sound or noise in the absence of real acoustic stimulation. Although an outright cure for tinnitus remains elusive, various management strategies have been developed to help to lessen the impact of the symptom.

A Wireless Cortical Surface Implant for Diagnosing and Alleviating Parkinson's Disease Symptoms in Freely Moving Animals

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A wireless cortical surface implant employing graphene electrode arrays diagnoses and alleviates Parkinson's disease symptoms in freely moving animals. The device continuously monitors cortical activity and delivers targeted stimulation, restoring beta–gamma and delta oscillations.
